My favorite local restaurant, everything I’ve eaten here had been some of the best I’ve ever had. The owners are the kindest people, the atmosphere is so welcoming and it’s super affordable. The wait can be kinda long but I never mind because of the free popcorn and games to play. I recommend the vegan nachos, tofu pickle pizza, and the tofu peanut salad. My only complaint is that I wish they were open more days a week.

Wow, we loved this place! It’s such a unique and cozy environment, with the decor and the tv playing a huge collection of cassettes. The employees are super kind and friendly. The food is cooked to order and takes time to come out, but popcorn is given out to munch on while you wait. Really enjoyed this late night spot, will be coming again.

they put the humanity back into restuarants, its like eating at yr friend/families house where u know ur always ganna be taken care of. they are always kind, food is bomb as hell—u get free popcorn? theyve got dinosaurs to play with? cool movies playing? everyone who eats there is hot and queer?
you can really feel the love they put into everything. i feel SOO grateful waiting for for food here: because i get to experience being present in a rare & unique space, generally surrounded by other tender cool humans sharing that space. one of my favorite hangout spots, and i look fwd to the weekends when i can come visit.
also cornerstone of stl night life 🙂 how cool that u can go out, see the weirdest bands of ur life and then come here after a show and kick it late into the night.
thank u gooseberries, u r my hero.

Great pulled pork platter and peach pecan pie! Thanks for the popcorn too. Nice guy, cozy place, they do care, and communication prior to the very end was overall great
Only thing that confused me was getting a real set of silverware to go (unless it’s a quirky gift) and the lack of communication on the end of the order with one side missing unless I got double of the other side, and no BBQ sauce which I thought it came with. I’ll be back
Great late night place for winter if they do stay open to 2am. Overall great first impression.

I just had the best omelette of my life. I could take or leave the coffee, but the food was delicious. And they were quick to get it out to me, too. Everything there was fresh home cooking, with children’s movies playing through a VCR and TV against the wall. I’m eager to try more from their fun, expansive menu.
Update 2021: It’s easy to pre-order online — either for dine-in or carry-out — and the staff is very welcoming and masked properly. Such a great menu, it was difficult to decide! (I finally went with the fried egg sandwich, a side of carrot pancakes, and black ‘n blue mac ‘n cheese).

The vegan food here is amazing! I was traveling from out of town and stopped in on my way home. I ordered the lentil burger, donuts, and a pickle pizza per the owners request. Another cool thing they do is bring you fresh popcorn while you wait for your food which was unique. Ross was such a sweetheart, and checked on me throughout the meal, and kept bringing me goodies while I was eating. It was really late when I left, and he even walked me all the way to my car. The food was amazing and the service was outstanding. I will be back every time I’m in the St. Louis area!!

When you walk in you are greeted with an eclectic decor- art museum meets living room- very homey. The music is a trip- jumping genres and decades, and the vhs movie playing is a treat! After you order (and so many great options- my child is vegetarian so this is one of the few places traveling that we had more than a veggie burger choice) you choose where to sit and they bring your drinks and some tasty popcorn to munch on. We had the tofu and pickle pizza (the pickles were sweetish tasted home made and the crunch of fried tofu and rich cheese made this delightful), the house made fries (absolutely delicious), and the French toast (rich and creamy flavor- I didn’t even need butter and I usually love to slather my French toast in butter). The gentleman serving us was so very nice (he even brought me additional dinosaurs and sent me off with a to go cup of their kool aid of the day- purplesaurus rex- a favorite from childhood). This was the best place I’ve eaten in a very long time.

Charming and comfortable, family-friendly environment with a wide variety of vegan to meat choices of comfort foods — even a few surprises from the past. The owner and chef, a husband and wife team, proud of their Southside heritage, were welcoming and friendly. We will be coming back, and recommend you add Gooseberries to your list too. Maybe a Monday all you can eat pizza and salad night?

This place was recommended by a friend and I am so glad he did. The place was very cosy with the most friendliest staff I have encountered in St Louis. The menu was awesome with both naughty and healthy options at very affordable prices. Totally recommend it for brunch and lunch
