I was recommended to try this place by a local Gainesville couple. Food was amazing! Took awhile to get our food but it was definitely worth the wait! Started with boudin stuffed quail. Then one entree was the Parmesan crusted flounder with the creamed sweet potatoes— just wow! It was cooked to perfection! The other entree was the shrimp and grits— probably the best grits we’ve ever had! We ended with bananas foster for dessert and it’s almost as good as some we’ve had in New Orleans. This little gem of a place is a MUST TRY!

Michelle and I finally made it over to Goodies On Commerce tonight.
First thing we noticed… the place was packed, which is usually a good sign.
The gentleman at the front asked if we wanted to wait on the patio while a table opened up. We said sure. Only problem… we were the only two people out there, so it felt a little like we had been sent to restaurant time-out
BUT… the server kept coming out to check on us and chat for a bit so we didn’t feel forgotten. That kind of attention goes a long way and the staff was genuinely great.
Once we got seated inside, the dining room was loud. Not bad loud… just lively. Tables are close enough that you might accidentally become part of the conversation at the table next to you
Now the important part — the food.
Honestly, I don’t have anything bad to say.
We started with the Boudin Stuffed Quail. It was really good… although that quail must have skipped leg day because that little guy was tiny. Not sure who we blame for that… the chef or the quail itself.
The Duck & Sausage Gumbo was excellent. Perfect amount of spice and the rice-to-gumbo ratio was exactly right.
We also ordered the Charcuterie Pizza, which was really unique. Sweet, savory, and surprisingly filling. Definitely not your normal pizza.
Michelle had the Garden Salad and said it was really fresh — spring mix, cucumbers, tomatoes, cheese, and dressing on the side.
Bottom line:
Great service.
Great food.
Fun atmosphere.
We’ll definitely be back.
For the Gainesville folks — what’s the best thing on the menu we should try next time?

I came here based on a recommendation from my friend Tom over at Five Fifty Five Winery.
This place is incredible! I’ve eaten at restaurants all over the world and Goodies On Commerce served me one of my top 5 meals. Incredible flavors in both entrees that were the perfect size. If we’d stopped at the entrees, it would have been amazing. But then, the bananas foster! Chris came to our table and made it right in front of us. Wow! Such a fantastic way to end a meal! This is everything a restaurant should be. Great food, atmosphere, perfect pricing, and wonderful people/service. We will be back!

This morning I had the Southwest Croissant and it was AMAZING! It’s loaded with protein (ham, bacon and eggs) with white cheddar and smashed avocado with a chipotle aioli. As always, great service, great atmosphere and great food!

NICE STAFF
EXCITING MENU
GOOD FOOD

I stopped for lunch here a Monday in May of 2025.
I chose this place because of the good ratings on Google map and because of the interesting and exciting menu.
The menu offers many choices – many very exciting choices that are hard to choose between. So of course you will have to return and taste some more.
You grab a menu and a table – and then order at the bar. They bring your food out to you.
I chose the combo – tasting two different sandwiches – and I added a cup of tomato bisque.
It all tasted very nice.
Should I come with a suggestion of fine tuning it should be a choice of bread for the sandwiches. It was “just” sandwich bread used.
But none the less it was a very good experience here. Definitely worth while a visit.

My son and I had our mother/son date here this evening. We weren’t dressed as nicely as we could/should have been for this lovely place. But they didn’t seem to mind. My son loved his burger and my shrimp and grits was amazing. He wants to have more family dates here.

This spot has a nice atmosphere as well as very nice staff. It is a BYOB establishment. The charcuterie board was nice with great tasting cheeses. The gumbo was also pretty good as well as the pizza. We got the salmon and I thought it was a hit under cooker but maybe that is how it is supposed to be. Overall I am glad I came here but wasn’t too blown away by the food.

Favorite place in/around Gainesville! Anything on their menu is amazing, and it’s so affordable which is always a plus. Everyone working is always friendly and it has such a cozy atmosphere. I live in NJ and make sure I stop in each time I’m in town!
