Good Mong Kok Bakery is a Chinatown staple and a must-visit for anyone craving fresh, no-frills dim sum at unbeatable prices. It’s a classic grab-and-go spot — no seating, usually a line out the door, and absolutely worth the wait.
The highlight? Their freshly made egg custard tart for just $1.80. It’s an incredible deal for something so delicious. The crust is perfectly flaky and buttery, while the custard filling is silky smooth, lightly sweet, and still warm when you get it. You can taste that it’s made fresh throughout the day.
Beyond the tarts, their steamed buns and dumplings are generous in size and flavor, making this one of the best value stops in San Francisco. Service is quick and efficient — this place runs like a well-oiled machine.
If you’re exploring Chinatown and want authentic, affordable dim sum, Good Mong Kok Bakery delivers every time. Four stars for amazing value and those unforgettable egg custard tarts. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Good Mong Kok Bakery is highly recommended for dim sum, offering consistently tasty food at very reasonable prices. Note that they are takeout only and do not have indoor seating. You must try their Pork bun and Siu Mai.

This was a great stop I will absolutely return to if I am in the area. Cheapest food around and it felt very fresh and authentic.
I would recommend the deep fried beef dumplings, and not the sausage dumpling. (Its just a hotdog)
Overall a great quick bite

Went there on a Sunday at around 10h. There was one, two people in front of me. The service was very fast, counter could speak Cantonese and Mandarin.
Don’t expect the waitress to make some talk to you. She just asks what you want and you pay 🙂
The Charsiubao could be filled more, I got 85% dough and 15% filling.
I really liked the Xiumai and the Dantat, really brought me back to my childhood 🙂

The pastries were really tasty and prepared well. Don’t expect the ladies at the counter to speak english and to be friendly, they’re just doing their work. But everything is so cheap and worth a try!

Waited about 5 to 10 minutes in line to order. Cash only and there are no seats or tables to sit down, only to go. The pork siu maid and shrimp dumplings were delicious

Loved it when I got it last year but this time around they’re so aggressively mediocre. Shrimp dumplings are bland and skin is too thick and dry, pineapple pork bun is stale and bland and couldve been baked for longer, peanut and sesame mochi is too soft (no qq texture I wanted)

Egg Custard Buns are the best! There chicken dumplings were really good also. Very good prices! Wish I would have ordered more of the buns. They did not last long. There is a reason this place usually has a line down the sidewalk. Great food and really good prices!

Best chowmein and pork bun in Chinatown, service was ok the lady make me and the other lady wait, if I didn’t say anything she would have took longer to help her, I like the food the service has to improve and be more friendly to the customers

This place is amazing! However, be prepared to wait in line, as it’s cash only and there’s nowhere to sit. I highly recommend for you to write down/have ready the number of the item of the menu you want to order, as it will facilitate and make the ordering process faster. I tried the baked pork bun, scallion pancake, shrimp dumplings, and black sesame balls. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The shrimp dumplings were flavorful and had a great texture, while the black sesame balls were not too oily and perfectly cooked (I could eat 1,000 of them!). I completely understand the hype surrounding this place.
