As regulars since day one, this place holds a special spot for us — and that’s exactly why tonight’s experience stings more than it should.

Let’s start with what’s still great: the boneless wings remain some of the best bar food in Omaha. Good Life has even been named “Best Bar Food” by Omaha Magazine, and honestly, the wings alone make that title easy to defend. We ordered two rounds tonight and they didn’t disappoint.

But the business practices? That’s another story — and the word that comes to mind is greed.

Good Life was among the first bars in the area to tack on a 3% service charge, framed as a credit card fee. Frustrating, but fine — people adapted. Tonight, however, we paid in cash specifically to avoid that fee, only to be told at the end of the meal that the surcharge applies regardless, citing “the rising cost of everything.” That’s not a credit card processing fee anymore. That’s just a hidden price increase dressed up in different clothes.

If costs have risen enough to warrant a blanket surcharge on every transaction — cash or card — then raise your prices transparently. Don’t let customers believe cash makes a difference when it doesn’t. Long-time regulars deserve honesty, not a quiet policy change revealed at the end of a $59 bill.

Jeff was a solid server, and the wings are still worth coming back for. But ownership needs to seriously reconsider how these kinds of policies erode the loyalty of the people who’ve been there from the very beginning.

What a joke. What a shame.

The food was excellent, the service on point and the atmosphere was typical sports bar, which isn’t a bad thing. We went on a Saturday, and they weren’t busy at all, but that’s probably because we got there shortly after they opened. I would imagine it wouldn’t be that way during Nebraska football games.lol.

The food was okay- nothing special, nothing bad. The service was nothing to be excited about. We waited to go to GL until The Husker game was over, playoff baseball and tons of football was on. We asked our server, another server, a busboy, and a bar tender. Nothing. As we were leaving three other tables that came in after us asked to put in anything but Law And Order.
It was a running joke!!! A Sports Bar should be all over this. GL is no better than DJs at this point!!!

I just had a cheeseburger with coleslaw. The hamburger was delicious, generously sized with a delicious bun. The coleslaw was good but the dressing needs to be tweaked. Just my opinion as a coleslaw lover. Service was immediate and continued to be excellent. True to sport bars, it had tons of tv’s tuned into almost anything imaginable. Nice place. Would go back without any hesitation.

I’m visiting Omaha and I heard this was a must visit! The atmosphere was amazing, I would definitely recommend sitting outside if weather allows (but even if it doesn’t..the patio can be covered and heated)! I got the smoked Gouda Mac and cheese and it was AMAZING! No crumbs remained. The garlic bread that is served with this dish is the best I’ve ever had. The patio also had turf which made it feel so authentic! I gave it a 4 star for service because our waitress didn’t match the vibe of the restaurant. Overall, if you’re in the Omaha area, definitely check this place out!

The food was much better than your typical bar and grill. Lots of tvs surrounding your dining experience. Our waitress was friendly and the food was prepared quickly. I’d recommend this spot to others in the area, it’s a cut above most sports bars.

While the burger was good (once they got it right) the waffle fries were, in my opinion, over done. I had asked for a regular single hamburger with the lettuce, tomato and pickles on the side. I was brought a cheeseburger. The waffle fries were hard and extremely crunchy. Our server did an ok job. However, he never asked if we needed a highchair for my one year old grandson. We had to ask for one. Also, he never asked if we needed our water refilled. We had to ask. Was a little disappointed with this visit. Been here before and never had any issues. Hope this was a one time oops.

The foods always good. But some reason we tend to get a ditzy server everytime. Bless her heart i know she tries but we’ve seen her a few times so know shes not new. And it wasnt busy at all when we went in a couple people at the bar and maybe 4 tables spilt between 2 or 3 servers. So I know she could not of been swamped. We had the wrong order delivered to us. Which sat for probably 5 or 6 minutes in front of me the rest of my 2 other people didnt have food so I was waiting for theirs to start eating. And she came by and was like thanks for not eating this and took it. And said it wasnt mine. I was praying she didnt give it to the other table ive been in food service my whole life and know it should’ve at that point just been left or thrown away. But I dont think she handled that well. Just hope for better service in the future cause the foods decent and the atmosphere is as well.

Their Saturday and Sunday brunch is the best value ever. 8.99 for 3 eggs, bacon, home fries and toast. If you are looking for a last minute place for saturday night they always have immediate seating because it is so big. Lots of tv’s to watch your favorite team.
