Best dim sum in the area. This isn’t the place for american chinese food. It IS the place for a more authentic experience (skip the general tso chix and go for some duck). I love the sesame seed balls with yellow bean paste (wish they would mix it up with purple yam). They will always make a special dim sum that isn’t normally on the menu this always good. The wait staff will go to the kitchen to get you something you want if it isn’t on the carts. The owner needs to invest in updating the dining area like maybe ditch the stained peeling wallpaper and stick with easy to wipe down satin finish painted walls. I wish the owner would enforce a regular strict cleaning regimen; every time I go there I want to take my power washer.

(This used to be Good Fortune. Now it is called Gourmet Inspirations. Some new decor and owners, but food, service and price is still incredible. Review below still stands)

We normally hit up Oriental East for dim sum on the weekend. But reading the stellar reviews for this place (not to mention its close proximity to our home in Wheaton) decided to give this a go.

Good Fortune did not disappoint and is head and shoulders better than Oriental East.

First, there’s no need to queue up a half hour before the doors open. We showed up at 10:58, and were seated promptly in the main, spacious seating area (there are two). The line for a seat never got more than 10 or so people and turnover was quick.

Carts appeared promptly, with food incredibly hot and fresh. The buns were amazing, along with the dumplings and fried dishes. The noodles came out a little later after we had gorged on everything else, so I have no review of those but I imagine they must be as good as everything else.

Service was top notch. We didn’t feel rushed, servers were quick with refills and apologetic if they weren’t. Every one was very patient, but the clientele is decidedly Chinese. We lingered probably far longer than we should have, but it was totally fine. And if you like to have a few drinks with brunch, it’s very affordable ($5 Mai tai’s and the like).

If you think dim sum starts and ends at Oriental East, you’re badly mistaken. Give Good Fortune a try and you’ll be pleasantly surprised and maybe become a repeat customer.

This restautant was pretty good in the old days. But I found its changed in a big way. I took my parents to visit yeaterday and found all dish and diningware were dirty. They obviously only put some water on the dirty dishes. For example, the dish were still wet with white color pieces remain from the previous customer. We found the same with fork, knife… It is as ugly as it can be.

I was very upset and speak to the waitress. Make her change it for us.

Will not going back again. And not recommend this place to anyone else.
