I was born in Long Island, New York, and moved to Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 12. Recently, I was hired to paint the windows for the holidays, and that job brought me to Gandolfo’s for the very first time. I met the owners, and right away it was an amazing experience.
The moment I walked through the door, I was hit with this wave of nostalgia. The aroma, the décor—everything instantly transported me back to my childhood. I had to ask where the owner was from, and when he said “Long Island,” I couldn’t believe it. Not because Long Islanders are rare down here—trust me, the Carolinas are full of us—but because something about that place had already pulled me home before he even said it.
After I finished the job, I ordered a cheese pizza—because if you know, you know. That’s how you test a real Italian spot. The sauce, the cheese, the crust… it all starts with the basics. I ordered it to go and tried to wait until I got home, but the Long Island kid in me just couldn’t. I opened the box, pulled out this magical slice with that perfect slight fold, took one bite—and I’m not kidding—tears started running down my face. It felt like I was right back on Long Island grabbing my usual slices from my favorite hometown pizzeria.
I know this might be a long-winded review, but I’m a true pizza connoisseur, and I have never been blown away like this. I’ve had places that came close, but this… this is the best pizza I’ve had since moving south. Honestly, it might be the best pizza I’ve ever had.

I have never left a review in my life but I just left this place and got 1 slice of cheese. This was the worst pizza I have ever had in my life. The cheese taste old everything about the pizza was terrible. First bite I took I spite out. Take the extra drive in town he’ll u better off eating little caesars and that says a lot.

Tried this place, ordered a cheese Sicilian, and a crostata pizza. The menu description didn’t have sausage. Ordered it for that reason. What we got had sausage, we don’t eat pork, this is why we ordered this with our cheese pizza.
Called and was told more or less too bad that this pizza comes with sausage. The Sicilian was good, but we probably won’t return due to how this was handled. Unfortunately, I can find good pizza at multiple places, and small things like this make the difference of returning or not.

3rd or 4th time we’ve gotten pizza from here when visiting our son. Really good pizza, great crust. I’ve had their cheese, pepperoni, and white pizza. All super tasty. My husband and son really like their chicken wings too.

Gondolfo’s is my favorite pizza joint in the ILM/Wilmington area. I am a pizza connoisseur and have eaten at many pizza joints all over the world, but this joint is as good as you will find when it comes to authentic NY style pizza. I’ve eaten here over 5x and the service was great, the pizza is always fresh, and the quality is 2nd to none. Their pricing is also right on point! If in the area, then you need to go to Gondolfo’s! I HIGHLY recommend!

The restaurant is very nice. A nice little sit in restaurant with tables out front.
Amy is very nice and respectful too.
The only issue I have is they never get our order right. We’d order a plain cheese and get a sausage and cheese pizza. We’d get hoagies with not all the toppings. Stuff like that. A pretty decent place though

Flavorless dry crust!! Ordered several different types of pizza and gave them a try. The crust tastes like old stale cardboard. The sauce is about as useless as the cardboard crust it’s sitting on. I really think they need to throw out the cook book that someone gave them for pizza and start all over again.

Haven’t tried many things off of their menu but their menu is huge. Our favorite thing to order is the calzones. They come stuffed with your choice of three toppings and tons of cheese. They have always been baked to perfection and they are huge. Super great prices in my opinion. You definitely get what you pay for.

Just OMG! So good. We’ve been like 4x this month. I was told the sauce is an old family recipe and y’all, it is We get a medium pepperoni pizza with sausage on half and basil on the other half. The chocolate cannolis are delish, and the fried ravioli is a must try! We had already started digging in when I thought to snap a photo, hence the partially finished pizza definitely worth checking out this little hidden gem!
