this place is unbelievable. i haven’t found a good bagel outside of the northeast and have lived all over the country… until we came here!!! just moved to Boise and for sure will be coming here each weekend (at min.) the bagels are FRESH and crunchy outside, warm & soft inside. toppings amount is perfect. they have great veg opts as well as a vegan cream cheese — and all the other meat & standard cc opts. they have this out of this WORLD vegan cookie with icing on it, just get it, you’ll see. we met the owner, she’s originally from NY (checks out) and is super sweet. we’ll be back again really soon!!

On the one hand, this is a really lovely place with awesome people who work here and an open and airy seating area. I ordered an egg salad on pumpernickel and a vegan lemon bar. The little lemon loaf was a lot heavier than I expected, but overall everything tasted really good. I love the addition of the banana peppers and I’ll start doing that on my own home-made sandwiches.

Wow!! Spicy Boi delivered!! Like when they say it’s HOT…..don’t buy it unless you like hot!! Fortunately, I love spicy!! They had me at szechuan cream cheese and pulled me in with spicy chilly crisp! I was warned, they told me, “It’s spicy.” The heat was A-MAZING, but no joke! Context: When I eat eggs at breakfast, just to dip my toast in the yoke, I smother it in Tabasco sauce! This sandwich heat almost had me question my choice but so appreciative of a place that ACTUALLY can deliver on something spicy!! I had to get water, I won’t lie, I let the water linger in my mouth before swallowing but in the end, after we left, maybe in about 10 minute, my mouth wasn’t burning or “on fire”. It’s an amazing heat, amazing flavor done just right! Hits you hard to be sure you’re serious about spicy and then fades away. I was so impressed they make their own chili oil (the chili crisp part of it), I had to get some extra to add to my food while I’m here (see the beautiful picture).

This is probably the best bagel shop I’ve found in downtown boise. The bagel was nice and crunchy on the outside, and warm and chewy on the inside, like they should be. I got it with lox, capers, tomato, pickled red onion, and cream cheese. They also do not skip out on the cream cheese i will say! Most places its a very thin layer, where a true New York bagel should have a thick smear. I also ordered the French press coffee and it was delightful! They also sell lox by itself if you’re wanting to take some home, as well as their own cream cheese smears! Plus, it gave a nice hip vibe take on a traditional bagel shop. Very open floor concept with tall vaulted garage windows. It’s very bright, and welcoming! I will be coming back with a friend next time!

I would love to give Goldsteins more than 2 stars but unfortunately, for their sake, I need to be critical.

Bagels need to be toasted well the toaster wasn’t working and they didn’t have a backup.

Well folks I am happy to report our fair city is complete. We have a truly amazing bagel shop that has graced us with its opening. I have been trying to get over here since I noticed the place a few weeks back and I should have MADE the time. True NY bagels in Idaho! Look no shade to other local places making bagels, they are just fine, but if you want the real deal, look no further than Goldstein’s. Perfect balance of textures and flavors give you a bagel that frankly is the best I have had outside of New York (where my family is originally from). It cannot be stated strongly enough that the nova lox is worth every cent you pay for it. Many places have lox, some even have what would qualify as Nova Lox, these folks have some sort of magical supplier that makes you remember why all the bagels with cream cheese and lox you get outside of NY don’t taste quite as good…except theirs do. Sorcery I tell you! They were out of bialys because I got their about 45 mins before closing, but I will be certain to get there early enough to try one soon. Oh also picked up a rugelach and it was the best I have had in memory. The pickles are fantastic too, if you like a quality dill pickle, add it to your order, top notch. I honestly could go on for an hour how happy I was to find this gem. The place is spotless, has a cute but modern feel, and carries a small assortment of harder to find goods like syrups and the like. I would add the staff was friendly and efficient. They seemed almost amused by my excitement about the place. I even called my mother as soon I left to tell her about it 😉 I will be back, thanks to whoever made this place for taking the leap on Boise, I have been here 10 months, and it made a wonderful city just a little bit more special.

Looking for a delicious bagel in Boise? Then you’ve found the right spot. Not what I would call traditional, NY style Bagels, but just as good. They’ve got a good, crisp crust, and an airy, lightly chewy interior. They offer a wide variety of toppings, though no salt. It is however possible that they have just been sold out of the salt every time I’ve been in.

If I could give 10 stars, I would! My family is from New York and tried them on a whim when we were driving through… They were SO GOOD that both my sister and I drove 30 minutes out of the way on our way back (separately without telling each other) and she ordered literally all the egg bagels they had in house… before I could! Truly the best bagels I’ve had outside of New York!
