Wow, we found this place while passing through Salem. I had never tried Indian food. After this place, I am now a fan of the cuisine. The flavors were amazing, and the food was so fresh and full of flavor. Absolutely amazing experience must go. I will be back again and again.

Family ran restaurant. It was as if the family cooked just for us. The amount of love put into the food is evident. We had Paneer Pakora, Garlic Naan, Butter Chicken (Medium Spice level), and Chicken Biryani (Spicy spice level); and everything was absolutely delicious. My significant other had caught wind of this place from social media, and as we are huge Indian food fans, we had to try it out. Golden Sparrow is in the old Adam’s Smokehouse spot beside Starbucks and the laundry mat. They have a sign on the street plaque but not on the building yet so unless you know where it’s at, you could miss it.
We went about 6PM, and the place only had a couple of patrons in there waiting for to-go food. Service was exceptional, five star all around for the welcoming atmosphere, and we even got to converse with the hostess regarding their opening last week. Inside is clean, still under construction but has a lot of open space and room for growth.
Food wise, we got the Vegetable Samosas, Butter Chicken, Lamb Biryani and Garlic Naan. First and foremost, the naan here is criminal. It was soft and buttery yet crispy and delicious. Could not have asked for better naan. The butter chicken was great, very hot and the rice was fragrant and seasoned well. On that same note, the Biryani was a HUGE helping – we did not expect to have a family sized plate for four come out! For the price to food ratio, we stuffed ourselves and still brought home half the plates for leftovers. Definitely five star on price, quality of food, and enjoyment.
Can’t stress enough that if you enjoy Indian, this is the place right now to go and try for yourself. Great service in a decent enough location that serves hot, fresh, great tasting Indian dishes. This is going to be our new spot moving forward.

The chicken tikka masala is good. I ordered mild and it was still spicier than I prefer. We also got lamb curry and it was okay, the lamb was tender but the flavor was not what I expected. It was lighter and creamier than other places I’ve tried. The garlic naan is good but much darker than I prefer.

I recently ordered takeout from here and it was so good! I got Vegetable Samosas that came with a really yummy chutney sauce that was super fresh. The Aloo Paratha, which was naan with a thin layer of potato inside, was delicious. The Mutter Paneer, which was my favorite, had just the right amount of bite and was very flavorful.
Although my order wasn’t ready when I arrived, the nice man at the counter was very thoughtful and offered me a glass of water while I waited. This small gesture really stood out to me and added to the overall positive experience.
This place is definitely a hidden gem. I ordered enough for myself and will definitely have enough for another delicious Indian meal tomorrow night! Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for authentic and tasty Indian food.

The onion kulcha, garlic naan, and tandoor roti were impeccably fresh, complementing perfectly the rich and creamy paneer and dal makhani. The dining room is small and humble. There aren’t massive Taj Majal murals or big screens showing bollywood classics. Instead, the restaurant is unassuming and unpretentious- it just seems like any restaurant.
The service is humble and kind. The food is delightful, I especially enjoyed the naan.
We got some chicken biriyani and Tikka masala, as well as naan, raita, and a mango lassi. All superb.
I can’t wait to eat this food again, and to try some other dishes.
