Service was good, I think people came at a busy time where it can make waters feel pushing but the service was great. Got the seat food lo mien and it was fresh and flavorful. Tip was a bit high but with the quick service I cannot complain. Great place

Wandered in here randomly and was pleasantly surprised! Had a few items from the dim sum menu, hot and sour soup, and chicken lo mein. Everything was delicious and we especially liked the thickness of the lo mein noodles. Reasonable prices. Good service, no hidden fees, food was great, so I guess my experience is a bit different then most that have left a review here. I would suggest trying it regardless of the reviews and hope you catch them on a good day! Not sure if the experience depends on who is working, or maybe there is new management, but we had a good meal.

After crushing a half marathon, my friend and I stumbled into Golden Shanghai on a Sunday afternoon. We were seated immediately – no wait! – and the staff was incredibly attentive throughout our meal. We ordered shrimp fried rice, steamed pork dumplings, General Tso’s chicken, and pork chop with salt and pepper. Honestly, we devoured everything. Maybe it was the post-race hunger, but every dish was delicious. It was a really pleasant experience. Sometimes you just have to take a chance on a lower-rated spot. We’re glad we did! Will we come back? Maybe…

This is one of the restaurants in Chinatown that takes credit cards which is a plus. The menu is rather weird, for example there are no hot appetizers that I could find and they do not even have egg rolls. The lunch prices are extremely affordable but on the weekends when the tourists are out in full force the menu is a bit on the high side. Portions are a little stingy and prices are a bit high when ordering off of the regular menu. They nickel and dime you on things, for example entrees do not come with white rice which costs $2 for a bowl. With the prices a bit high you would think they could throw in the bowl of rice. The food itself is pretty flavorful and better than your average run of the mill American-Chinese take out. The wait staff is fairly on top of things and even a bit friendly but the experience is a bit rushed as we had one employee constantly checking if we were done with things so he could take them away. All in all not a bad place to eat by any means.

Walking through china town looking for a place to eat and this looked like a nice place to try.
Went in and the restaurant was empty except for three or four Chinese families.
As we were shown to our seats, a jug of cold water and some menus were placed down.
Got a few minutes to look at the drinks menu before getting asked for our drinks ordered.
We then had another 5 minutes before our food ordered, the chap was very patient with me as I destroyed the pronunciation of the dishes.
Food arrived as each dish was ready, I don’t mind this as it means your food is fresh.
The restaurant started to fill up more and more and by the time all of our dishes arrived the place was full of families.
Food was lovely. Hot and tasty. Dumplings were lovely.
Tables are cleared quickly but we didn’t feel rushed.

Beware of hidden 20% fees and aggressive service!

“Avoid this place if you don’t want to be scammed. They added a 20% automatic tip to my bill without any prior notice on the menu or at the entrance. When I politely asked to remove it because it wasn’t disclosed, the staff became incredibly rude and hostile, even telling me to ‘get out.’
In NYC, it is illegal to add a mandatory service charge without disclosing it upfront. They only removed it after a firm confrontation. Very unprofessional and deceptive practices. Check your bill carefully before paying here!

I filed an official complaint with consumer protection a short while ago, and I will not let these scammers get away with it.

TLDR;
Flavorful food but pricy for the portion size. Friendly staff and service is as quick as it can get with how busy it is. Typical dimsum environment.

The food options were plentiful and they smelled delicious. All the dishes were very flavorful and cooked to perfect tenderness. I would recommend the fried rice and the string beans in terms of taste. Everything else was pretty normal. The only dish that threw us off was the spicy noodles since they weren’t spicying. The biggest surprise was the portion sizes…they looked small compared to the plate, unfortunately. Most importantly, keep in mind that all dishes can be pricy!

However, we were grateful to have secured a table at the restaurant despite being a Friday night. The waiters were quick to seat us down and gave us plenty of time to order. The food did come only after quite a while but they arrived all at once nice and warm which is perfect for sharing since the food didn’t grow cold. The most difficult part was trying to get the waiter’s attentions to refill the water jug.

The environment was honestly what you would expect of any dimsum place: perfectly loud and bright. Everyone could hold their own conversations without being over heard. Although, it was quite crowded and the tables are really close to eat other so we were a bit crammed.

We were looking for a nice sit in restaurant to have authentic Chinese food. We walked in and sat at a table with a turntable. No Seltzer water served, there so we had to drink regular water which was served lukewarm warm jn a stainless steel pitcher and we received it in plastic cups. The platers were all different and utensils different as well. We ordered sea food lo Mein it was so horrible, the food seemed that it was microwaved. It was horrible on every level and the servers were unwelcoming, we asked for the check right away and they added the service fee on too of the check even though service, food, and the whole experience was TERRIBLE DO MOT GO THERE Food was so salty no flavor.

I could hardley breathe when i stepped inside it smelled like the sewage was leaking. I also saw one of the servers itch their private area and then they didnt wash their hand and continued with the food. There were also 2 hairs in my food which i payed 30 dollars for ONE plate. Somebody needs to come in and investigate them as soon as possible!

We were here on a Sunday afternoon. The restaurant was calm and the music lovely. The waiters are very quickly, the food came super fast. We had vegetables and Dim Sum. Everything was very delicious. Perfect visit for us. We highly recommend this place. Much love from Germany.
