Hate leaving a bad review, but it was my first time eating here and found a “burrowing bug” (according to google lens) in my food and an upset stomach. Thought I should warn people who would like to know what they may be overpaying for. Will not be returning back here. Apparently im not the first to find a bug in their food from this place according to previous reviews on here as well. Thats a big enough red flag for me. I dont wish to buy insanely overpriced food with bugs in it anyway. I find this place a scam with unprofessional kitchen regulations. Food was low quality, can be infested with bugs, and highly overpriced.

Really enjoyed the food here while visiting family. Everything was fresh and even the egg rolls and dumplings seemed to be made in house, not frozen. Reasonable prices. Well organized menu. I appreciated the traditional Chinese food options as opposed to being Asian fusion, which can be a little overwhelming and disorganized on a menu. Would definitely come back again next time we’re in town.

Family friendly, super helpful staff and food delivered to the table fresh out of the wok! Not fancy, but a solid American Chinese dining experience at reasonable prices. We will be back for sure.

Was disappointed to not see a lunch menu. $42 for 2 people for a simple lunch like chinese is too much. Will try another place for lunch next time.
Food was good. Service was so so. Atmosphere was nothing special but it was clean.

I often review restaurants as a hobby. I found this little place on the corner next to Kroger’s while going through town. I thought I would give it a fair shot, since it seemed like it would be decent and I was hungry at the time.

When first walking inside, I was greeted and promptly seated. It was only me and one other table that had two people, (though they were leaving as I was coming in). I was not offered any drink selection. I was given water and only given a few minutes to look over the menu. I felt rushed to order by the waiter, which didn’t make me feel comfortable. Needless to say, I don’t believe they even served tea, let alone soda or alcohol! Very disappointing!! Tea should be a bare minimum, especially for a Chinese restaurant!

Since I was rushed, I just went with something every basic Chinese restaurant should know how to cook: Sweet and Sour Chicken! I got the combination and requested the Hot and Sour Soup.

The soup was delicious, and it came to me fresh. It was still warm and while I have had better Hot and Sour Soup at other restaurants, it was mediocre.

My main dish came shortly after my soup, and the server did wait until I had finished my soup to serve it to me. It was still warm and fresh! It came with steamed white rice and an egg roll as well. It was served to me with the sweet red sauce (which, again, was mediocre at best) and an unlabeled white sauce. The red sauce was great! The white sauce? Well, that is a different matter entirely!! I wish I had been told exactly what kind of white sauce thet had given me. I had thought it was like that which I received at most Habachi grills, but OH WAS I EVER WRONG!! I had already poured quite a bit on it before realizing that it was not! I poured quite a bit on my rice, took a big bite, and my mouth was instantly screaming and begging me for mercy. It was as if the depths of Hell’s fire had lit itself inside my mouth and felt like it was eating away at my gums and taste buds. My mouth was lava for a while! And I REALLY wish they would have labeled the white sauce as extremely spicy!!! Needless to say, I did not finish my rice and pushed my plate aside shortly after.

They brought me my check and a fortune cookie, along with a couple of slices of orange (which definitely helped with the burning sensation lingering in my little mouth!) I paid about $13.50 for this meal. Not bad, but also not great, considering I could have drove a little further away and paid the same price for a Chinese buffet!

Overall, I would rate my experience a solid 3 out of 5. Mostly due to service. I felt rushed. I also felt quietly watched and judged. Honestly, I’m not sure if I’ll go back. The prices are too high for the quality that is served, and the service is mediocre at best. I would hate to be here on a busy day! I would not recommend this place unless you are looking for a convenient Chinese food place and are desperate due to a time constraint. Otherwise, I recommend drive a little further and getting something better. There are MUCH better places within 10 minutes of this location, I promise!

We’ve been ordering takeout (and used to eat at the restaurant when it was allowed) for 21+ years for our family. It’s always been our go-to takeout for Chinese, even though it’s 10+ miles away and a 15-20 min drive.
Lately the portion sizes have gone down very significantly as the prices have gone up significantly in the past couple years. We always order the family size vs individual entrees.
It has been 5 months since our last order since it’s gotten more expensive. Tonight I called a couple times and it rang forever and no one answered. Then I tried again and the young man who answered the phone seemed confused like he didn’t know the menu or what he was doing when I asked to place a togo order and wasn’t the friendliest and started to try and tell me I could not place an order. It wasn’t the usual person who has taken our order in the past. My husband went and picked up our order and got home, and we were disappointed that they no longer provide white rice with the family portions. We ordered 2 orders of almond fried chicken and no rice was included. We also always order the vegetarian egg rolls as we don’t eat pork and tonight we were given pork egg rolls. We also didn’t receive any fortune cookies like we have always been given. Everything seemed skimpy. The chicken was incredibly sparse, and the prices have gone up. We’re so disappointed. We spent nearly $75 on two orders of almond chicken, one pint chicken fried rice, 3 orders of egg roll, and one pint of chicken chow lo mein and no white rice. We’ve never in all our years had Chinese food where the entrees didn’t come with a box of rice for each. We were given entirely too much sauce for the meager amount of chicken without rice as well. It was just really off. Last time we ordered more and our total was $58. This time we ordered less, and received half the amount of chicken as normal and paid $25 more. Unfortunately we have decided to no longer order from here after 21+ years. It’s time to find a new home for Chinese takeout, which has been really hard in these rural parts. I miss the family who used to run the restaurant. My husband thinks maybe it’s under new ownership. They were always so kind and helpful and for years they would gift us with a calendar for the Chinese New Year in January. It’s just not personal anymore and not worth the price for what you get now. We also miss being able to sit and dine-in at the restaurant. We were told it’s takeout only.

Golden palace never fails. The food is always fresh, hot, and full of flavor. Their Orange Chicken is spectacular, and the portions are very generous. The best place for Chinese takeout in the area. Highly recommended!

Let me say from last time I was here this place has improved. The place is super clean entirely. I guess it has new owners, which is great. The food was great, I had the Hawaii 5 O, and my wife had the Mongolian beef and chicken, which is also very good. We enjoyed our dinner very much. Good service, fast, kind, and courteous. Will definitely return for dinner again.

Fresh and delicious egg drop soup and wontons, and crab Rangoon. I am amazed with the quality of these items. The service is fast and employees are kind. The egg drop soup cured my flu. I am excited to become a regular here. I can’t believe this is my first time eating here after living around the corner for three years.
