They have always been VERY kind and respectful to my family and me. Mrs.Santos
Tucked in a busy Rowland Heights plaza off Colima Road, **Golden Noodle & Grill** is the kind of well-lit hole-in-the-wall that feels like a blast from the past—bright fluorescent lights, simple booths, faded family photos on the walls, and that constant sizzle of the grill mixing with pho broth aromas . It’s small, no-frills, and packed with locals who’ve clearly been coming for years. The vibe is pure early-2000s Vietnamese cafe nostalgia—comforting and unpretentious.
Ordered the **typical beef pho**, **egg rolls**, and **grilled pork chops over rice**. The pho came out steaming with rare beef, brisket, tendon, and all the usual fixings—bean sprouts, basil, lime, jalapeño on the side. Egg rolls were crispy and grease-free, served with nuoc cham that had good tang. The pork chops were nicely charred with that classic marinade, paired with broken rice, shredded pork skin, and a fried egg.
**Service was nice**—auntie took the order with a smile, refills came quick, and everything arrived fast even during the dinner rush.
That said, deductions keep it from higher stars. The **soup** was warm and comforting but **average**—lacking that deep, long-simmered star anise and cinnamon punch. **Seasoning** across the board felt safe rather than bold, and **freshness** was just okay—herbs were fine but not super vibrant, and the beef didn’t have that just-sliced brightness.
Golden Noodle & Grill is reliable, affordable Vietnamese home cooking when you want something straightforward and familiar in the SGV. It won’t blow you away, but it hits the spot on a chilly night. I’ll be back when nostalgia calls—just hoping for a touch more depth next time.
We ordered spring and egg rolls, which were tasty and our soups.
Long, service staff, was friendly and attentive to customers.
Van Huynh, restaurant owner & chef, has a great personality and cooks delicious Vietnamese foods. Dishes includes pho, broken rice, vermicelli, Chinese noodle soup, chow fun & mein, congee, Banh mi, Vietnamese deserts, milk shakes, and smoothies; all at a reasonable price. She took her time to greet me and even strike a pose for a photo which is posted on her Google map restaurant. Thank you Van!
The restaurant has nice decorations, clean, well lit, and well air conditioned on this warm day.
I recommend trying out this restaurant.
