Most of the food was good, but some were bland. I would not get the carrot cake again it was horrible. The salmon, however, was fantastic, and so was the vegetable soup. The bathroom was clean, but the table was dirty. The waitress was having an off day.

Golden Gate Diner is located on Union Blvd. in Allentown. They are open every day from 6AM – 9PM.
I drive by this diner all the time and I haven’t been in since I was a kid, so I had to stop in for a nostalgic visit.
I ordered French onion soup and the Golden Gate special (1/4 lb burger and fries). The soup was savory and the burger was juicy. The fries were a bit undercooked, but $6.50 for a burger and fries is a great deal.

Visited about 7:30 pm, we were one a handful of people there. Seating and service was quick. Food was good. Temperature inside went kept fluctuating from cold to warm to cold. Even though they don’t close till 9:00, they started cleaning up around 8:15 and turning out lights. Always annoying when you’re trying to eat and everyone around you is rushing to clean up the place when it’s supposed to be open.

We were there once before and there wasn’t really anything on the menu for a vegan. The manager was very nice and had the cook make me a vegetable wrap and added some avocado with it. It was great. Yesterday, after going to the Christmas market in Bethlehem, we drove to the diner because it was so good and accommodating the last time. I ordered the same wrap and explained that they made it for me last time. The server, who was extremely nice, came over and said they didn’t have any avocados. I said that was ok. Then she came out and told me the cook said he won’t make me a vegetable wrap. Just like that he refused. I don’t understand why. Did they run out of vegetables? I was very disappointed. The server and the nice woman at the register said that they didn’t know why he wouldn’t make it.

Our server was impatient, dismissive, and flat-out rude. I get that serving is not easy but rushing me out before I’m even halfway through my meal? I was literally on my second pancake when she dropped the check and said, “ok, here you go, have a nice day,” like we were a burden she needed to clear out.
What made it worse is she was accommodating to another family right next to us… then acted like me and my family didn’t matter. That kind of selective hospitality is unacceptable.
Because of that attitude, she lost a $20 tip.

I found the food to be undercooked- the pancakes were raw inside- the eggs that were supposed to be over well were barely cooked and runny- when I asked the waitress to refill my coffee she said it wasn’t her job and someone would come by soon. This is not a diner I would go to again.
