The Golden Gate Chinese Restaurant has great food at very reasonable prices. I especially enjoy their chicken fried rice and chicken with broccoli. My wife loves the egg rolls, shrimp mei fun, and wonton soup. GGCR has definitely become our go-to spot on lazy Sundays.

Unfortunately, the condition of the restaurant was alarming. The space was visibly dirty, with black, greasy residue staining the base of the order counter from one end to the other. No health inspection rating was displayed. When I asked about it, I was told to look it up online. Shortly after, the owner asked why I didn’t trust them — a response that felt dismissive rather than reassuring, especially given the visible cleanliness issues.
I ultimately took the food home and tried it anyway, again relying on the reviews. Sadly, the food itself was also a disappointment and did nothing to offset the concerns raised in the restaurant.
Based on this experience, I would not trust ordering food from this establishment and seriously question the health and safety standards being followed. I attempted to find their health inspection report online afterward and was unable to locate it.
I don’t leave reviews like this lightly, but transparency matters — especially when health and food safety are involved.

When I moved to Lancaster, I had a hard time finding a Chinese restaurant that compared to my old favorites, but after trying Golden Gate it has become our go to Chinese restaurant. I’m so happy it exists. I love that they put a lot of veggies in most of their dishes and the prices are still good. The eggrolls are really good too! This is a place where you get takeout. They have like one table inside.

I’ve been searching for the best Chinese takeout in Lancaster and I think I’ve found it. I had almost given up hope of finding good chicken lo mein. I am so glad I stopped to check this place out.
Just about as typical Chinese takeout as you can get as far as atmosphere. One thing stood out to me though, this is a family business! My all time favorite Lancaster Chinese takeout (China 1 in New Holland, RIP) was a family run spot. When I noticed that here I got immediately excited. The service was great.
Prices were typical. Nothing on the crazy high side. They do have lots of specials on their menu which is nice if you like combos.
The real winner here is the food. Tons of flavor and cooked perfectly. If you’re searching for good Chinese takeout in Lancaster like I was, you must try Golden Gate. My new go to Chinese takeout!

The service here is good the shop it’s self dosen’t hold many frills. But the quilty of the grub is why we like it. We were recommended to this place by a friend. Every time we go to grocery outlet store or smile builders we stop in here. DO IT!!!

Great Chinese restaurant! My husband found out about this place and it’s one of his favorites now. He says that the lo mein is the best he’s ever had. Overall great place and definitely recommend it.

The service was fast, staff friendly, and the food is excellent. Shrimp were very big not like the tiny ones they usually give. Vegetables were tender and crisp, perfectly cooked. The honey chicken is awesome, everything is super fresh as served steaming hot. Prices were fair and it worth it best in Lancaster county. Free calendar in December!!!
