This was quite a unique experience. 2 of the bartenders were very kind. I do vanlife and the highway was shut down due to blizzard warnings. This was the closest place with food. Drinks. And music that was open until 330 am.
The crowd was chill and full of dancing, dancing to actual band with instruments. It was very cool. There’s a pool table, and the vibe is old school like.

This was a fantastic find! After meeting the previous owners at another spot, we dove in for local beer and ‘bbq your own burger’. We got great beef patties and all the fixings to do up on a gas grill in the bar. Sports, music and a great time!

Regulation beer joint in Ester AK about 4-5 miles outside of Fairbanks. On Main street which is a dirt road. Colorful locals arrive within a few minutes of opening. Bartender already pouring their drinks as they walk through the door. Pool table and lots of seating but most people sit at the very long bar. If you order a burger, they bring you a ball of ground chuck and tell you the grill is out front, cook it yourself. A little smokey (even the bartender smoked while working). Glad we stopped by on our way to Fairbanks.

Went Aug 21, bartender seemed nice to everyone but me. Extremely rude, not sure why she felt the need to single me out, but her employers and future patrons should know she is willing to treat someone poorly based solely on their appearance and not at all their actual character.

Great little drinking establishment up in Ester, Alaska. On Sundays they have a gathering of Pickers. It was really fun to listen to the musicians that gather to play a little old and new music. The most adorable little girl bulldog was a patron on this day. I did not eat there, but they have a grill where you can prepare your own hamburger! I recommend this fun little place.

An Alaskan saloon, basically the Ester Community Center. Inexpensive beverages, pool, cook-your-own burgers. Will seem clubby if you’re new, but Ester loves people who can carry on a thoughtful conversation. Yes, at a bar.

One of the most awesome animal encounters I have had. The reindeer are friendly and the staff are knowledgeable and great. Definitely recommend this and if I come back to Fairbanks I will be sure to book again.
