I am disappointed to report that Golden Dragon, formerly the top-rated Chinese restaurant in Fremont, has seen a significant decline in quality. My recent DoorDash order of beef lo mein was subpar, with a burnt taste suggesting it had been sitting out for an extended period. The dish’s aroma was off-putting, and the vegetables were overcooked. The rice was particularly unappetizing, tasting like unfiltered sulfur water from the sink . The sweet and sour sauce failed to melt when reheated, having solidified. Given the high standards I had for Golden Dragon, the experience was disheartening, and I couldn’t bring myself to eat the meal that cost over thirty dollars. 🙁
Serving substandard food to paying customers is very unfortunate.

I had wor wonton soup and shrimp lomein delivered but the shrimp lomein turned out to be just a few piece of low quality shrimp and lots of bean sprouts. Although they tasted ok it was not what I asked for. Plus the lomein shrimp was suppose to come with fried noodles or rice. Didn’t get it.

HUGE dinner portions… super fresh food! Carry out only available which worked out perfect for us. The steamed veggies with gravy on the side was super flavorful! Egg rolls are huge and not greasy like other carry out places. We had enough left for a second meal. The boys got chicken general Tso and pepper steak and both couldn’t believe the fresh flavorful ‘real meat’. We drove 26 miles to take home meal which was super well wrapped!

The food was decent, but it still lacked that “fully homemade” vibe. Every chicken dish is prepared the same with that thick breading. The fried rice was very good. The employees were very sweet and polite.

This place is the bomb. From the outside, it doesn’t look special. From the inside, it looks like a dive. It was probably super nice in 1970 when they last remodeled it.
So why do I like this place? The food and the service. My wife knows if we are in the area, we are picking up. They’ve always been polite and friendly, and the same server has always been there. She even remember my order, though it’s easier when your pal steps on their foot.
I definitely recommend the Fancy Tofu, a little crispy. I’m not a big tofu guy, but it’s great. A nice serving size and a great price.

Large portions at a reasonable price. These dishes are big enough to share! We always bring extras home. The interior is dated, but the food is more on the traditional side (the rice isn’t yellow) but it’s not a big departure from other Chinese places. Give it a try.

Haven’t ordered from here in years and this evening I was craving an eggroll with my dinner. I placed my order, I didn’t realize the soup didn’t come with the meal anymore. I thought I was subbing wonton for the egg drop, but was charged for it instead, which I could live with. I get home to only realize that I had 2 scoops of fried rice, and no eggroll and my almond chicken was basically fried chicken tenders with a side of cream of chicken soup with a few almonds sprinkled on top. I called to ask about the eggroll and was told “we gave you double rice because we are out of eggrolls”. I paid 25.00 bucks for my “platter” that was anything but a platter and it would have been nice to tell me there would be no eggroll in my meal WHEN I ordered it. Never again. Too bad, ate here many times in past and the place has obviously had better times.

Highly not recommended. This place has gone down since covid. All they care about is money. The owner is very unprofessional and rude. I’ve ordered pepper steak and got no peppers before told they were out of peppers smh. Many times over have gotten home to find no soy sauce, no egg roll. Call the store and they dont believe you.
I’ve eaten here many times only because the choices in this small town are not great for Chinese.
Ordered today and ordered a small wonton soup only to find out they stopped selling smalls. But the owner never mentioned that when ordering.
Oh also the prices all went up again. Wasn’t made aware of that either. Used to get a free soup with the combos but it all costs extra now. They raise the prices and give less food and don’t even let you know the prices have gone up. The quality vs price is not at all worth it. I will never eat there again. You can only screw your customers over so much before enough is enough.
I do not recommend them. I’d take your money across town to the other one or do what ill do from now on goto another town and get Chinese.

The “to go only” greeting was a little surprising, but the food was good and plentiful. Actually ordered two different dishes – the moo goo gai pan and chicken with broccoli. Got home and could not tell them apart. But they were good. I can’t really blame them for “to go only” with the difficulty of finding and keeping staff these days after covid. It is well worth a stop. Enjoy!
