My wife and I had a business appointment at 9am to take care of in Fort Smith. We live in Hot Springs so we had a two and 1/2 hour drive in which we left at 6am.

We thought we would have time to sit down in a nice restaurant and have breakfast before the meeting but that did not happen.

At 10am before we headed home I suggested we eat at McDonalds, now mind you we don’t usually eat McDonalds and she didn’t like that idea so she goggled Golden Coral and found one close by.

I can’t remember the last time I ate at a Golden Corral mainly because we don’t have one in Hot Springs and we don’t drive to Little Rock and pass 100 other restaurants when we are hungry.

I told her it’s breakfast time and GoldenCorrals serves lunch and dinner.

She said no the website said on Friday, Saturday and Sunday they have a breakfast buffet.

I thought to myself how do you do a breakfast buffet and envisioned the many times how horrible the continental breakfast buffet at the many hotels that I have stayed at has been.

But we went anyway

To say it was horrible would be saying something nice about our experience the best form of that adjective to use is horrendous.

The glasses that we got to use for our drinks were plastic and had to be so old that they don’t remember when they bought them. They were scratched up and the rim had edges and I thought that I would cut my lip

This was my first impression and should have been a clue of what was to come.

Who knew the ideal place to have breakfast would have been McDonalds.

Food was at best lukewarm, flavorless, old and tasteless it was very bad and it was the same on both sides and maybe would have hotter if is was only one side. It was not that busy for the amount of food that had out to give a quality product

Many items were cold. The salad looked like it would have been the best choice but who wants salad for breakfast?

Golden Coral’s motto must be it ain’t old until it is sold and we don’t take pride in the quality of the food we serve.

The only thing that was decent was the orange juice in which my server didn’t offer a refill.

We paid for our food before we ate and gave the server a tip.

I don’t know if it was just this one but the next time I go to a Golden Coral they are going to have to pay me and give me a tip to stay and eat.

Right away the food wanted out of my system and I usually reserve bowel movements for my house but there was no way I was going to drive two minutes let alone two hours so I headed to the men’s room and one of the two toilets was out of order and the other one was already being blown out this is the sanitation of the paper towel situation.

Let’s just say I owe the Discount Tires employee who had to clean after I relieved myself from the misery of having breakfast at Golden Coral a major thank you and I am sorry

Maybe lunch and dinner is better but this experience has scared me for life of Golden Corral

It was terrible

Thanks for listening and reading

Golden Corral has established a remarkable family-friendly atmosphere in its restaurants, which has garnered immense popularity among children. While I must admit that I am not personally a fan, I recently took my children to Golden Corral for their birthday dinner. The food was exceptional, and it completely changed my perception of the restaurant. The staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly, and there was a wide variety of food options available. Furthermore, the dessert bar is a must-try.

We didn’t want to cook for just ourselves this year so we decided to come to Golden Corral. The wait was a bit to get in, but it was definitely worth the wait. Everything was so Yummers. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving meal. There was so much to choose from that we overstuffed ourselves. From the salad to the main course foods and sides to the desserts . It was all delicious. Thanks again for a great Thanksgiving meal.

First time at this eatery. I thought I could order steak, but couldn’t. However, I decided to eat here anyway. Buffet areas were loaded with tasty food, and the service personnel were always checking on me to make sure that I had everything I needed. A pleasant experience, reasonably priced. I am planning on returning.

The place was dirty, particularly around the salad and dessert bars, where they delayed replacing bowls before adding fresh ingredients like salad dressings. One bowl was crusty, yet they used the same spoons to serve fresh salad dressing from it. The area was extremely unhygienic, and it was obvious the employees were disengaged. This was our second visit, and the unpleasant atmosphere remained. We will not be returning. I would not recommend eating there.

If you’ve ever heard of the “Tour of Italy” option at another good establishment, I would refer to Golden Corral’s buffet options as ‘World Tour Bingo”!!! Cheeseburger, pizza, tried chicken, refried beans, fish, shrimp, pulled pork, stuffing, broccoli rice and cheese, steak, mashed potatoes… Wait for it… They have a whole other buffet bar of DESSERT! It’s the same size as the regular meal buffet bar. Plenty of drink options. Wait staff makes sure you’re never thirsty. Senior buffet 1 to 4 p.m (cheaper) Tables are not too close. They have larger tables for big groups. I’m pretty sure you are expected to plate up w/ seconds (or thirds)!

I recently held a family gathering at this venue and was impressed by one of the staff members who went above and beyond to clean our tables. I made sure to leave a generous tip specifically for her, handing it to the front desk with clear instructions to pass it on to the cleaning staff. However, I was deeply disappointed to overhear a cashier mentioning that the manager by the name “Sarah” never gave the tip to the intended employee but pocketed it instead.

This is incredibly unethical and reflects poorly on the management’s integrity. It’s disheartening to think that a deserving worker was deprived of a tip meant to acknowledge her hard work. While the venue itself was adequate, this incident has left a sour taste.

I urge the management to address this issue and ensure that tips reach the staff members they are intended for. Treating employees fairly is crucial for maintaining a positive work environment and providing good service.

There aren’t many decent buffets in the area. After moving back to Fort Smith, I was surprised that Western Sizzlin had went down hill and Catfish Cove was out of business. Golden Corral always has a pretty good selection… fresh items on the salad bar, several dessert option, rolls are almost always great, the roast is one of my sons’ favorites, pizza isn’t bad, and there’s always numerous options from mashed potatoes, green veggies, baked potatoes with all the fixings, usually some sort of meat being carved to order, etc. The place usually needs to keep up with cleaning the tables, floors, and bathrooms a little better, but I know that’s a little tough to keep pristine when so many customers are in and out all day. You can always ask your server for a cup of coffee if that’s something you want. Overall, we’ll be back occasionally. Lunch definitely seems to be the better bang for your buck. Military discount is offered… it’s not much (maybe 5% or so), but better than nothing. Either way, we’ll be back. Not somewhere we want to go every week, but once a month or so we usually feel like going .

Went on Christmas Eve on a whim and a desire for some turkey. My first time in a buffet like this in years and it was so much better than I remembered. We had turkey and dressing, tried the bbq, fish, fried okra and sampled the bread pudding, berry pie and carrot cake. Everything was great. The service was attentive. Glad my wife suggested it and will definitely go again soon.
