As soon as you walk in your greeted by a very nice couple. The food was delicious . Hot and very fresh. The pineapple mango sauce was very pleasant to the taste buds. We had the dinner special good price and plenty of food. Will definitely go back. Went with my sister and daughters. The hot and sour soup was so good. Not one complaint from us.

I had one of the worst experiences with Golden City off Oates Rd. this past Monday. I placed an online to-go order for delivery, waited the entire estimated delivery time, and nothing ever showed up. After calling around to figure out what happened, I learned that Golden City had CLOSED — without any notice online, by phone, or on the ordering platform. The only “notification” was a piece of paper taped to their door.
Not only did I waste my time, but the poor delivery driver (who I had already tipped $10 in advance) wasted gas and effort driving all the way there to pick up my order, only to find out the restaurant was closed. The driver lost money, I lost time, and all because Golden City couldn’t be bothered to update their status or notify customers properly.
To make matters worse, I even called on Monday and left a voicemail asking them to call me back so I could explain what happened — and I still haven’t received a response. That shows me they don’t care about their customers at all.
This is incredibly unprofessional and disrespectful to both customers and drivers. I live just eight minutes away — it should’ve been a simple, smooth order. Instead, it turned into a complete waste of time and money for everyone involved.
If you value your time, money, or sanity, I strongly recommend avoiding this place.

I called to order delivery and phone line said the number is not in service, so I came here to check whether or not the place had shut down as it’s been a while since I ate here. I sure hope it is still open! I felt called to leave a five star review to counteract some of these bad ones. I have been eating here for more than ten years since back when the place was painted green and called ‘May China’ under different management. The food is exactly what you’d expect at a reasonable price, and good and hot! The owner/operators are very kind and the kitchen works quickly. The place is very clean and quaint. I don’t know why everybody expects luxury all the time.

My wife and I have visited Golden City Chinese Restaurant a few times. The food always comes out great! The Lunch and Dinner specials are very cheap. We shared an order of steamed wontons, each received an entrée with rice, soup and egg roll, along with a soda for under $30. The orange chicken is so delicious and my wife gets it every time. The owners are the most friendly you will ever have. They make sure your drinks are full and that you are catered the whole time. The owner even offered to box our food in to-go containers (the portions are huge! Plenty for two meals). During our time in the restaurant, the owner greeted every customer with a smile and knows all the regulars by their name. We will certainly be back and hope that more people visit this gem!

By golly, this place was great!!! I work in Garland and periodically order lunch for my staff. A client recommended Golden City and it was AMAZING!!! The food was great! I got Orange Chicken and it didn’t disappoint! One of my lifelong fears is ordering a meal and still being hungry when I’m done with it. Do not have to worry about that here! I got tons of rice and tons of chicken. The picture I took of my meal is what I had for leftovers after I already ate! The to go plate is still full! 10/10 will be back soon!

I’ve been coming here for about 10 years plus .its under new management and I must say it has improved for the best . The food is more fulling and also has food with more ingredients. The food taste better than before . Jorge and the staff are awesome and I’m glad they put love on the place and food .
