Best Asian cuisine in Memphis. I’ve always tried to stick to my guns and order things I’m comfortable and familiar with, like sesame chicken but this time I adventured outside of the box and ordered the Peking pork. I’m soooooo glad I did. It was tender , sweet and tangy. For some reason it reminded me of a taste that I had tasted a lonnnng time ago and had been looking for it ever since. I’ll never cheat on this restaurant with any place else again. Food was 10/10. The young lady that took my payment tossed the pen to me to sign my receipt and I was kinda taken back by it. Butttt other than that the food was very delicious. But it wouldn’t be a place I would want to dine in at.

My husband and I love Golden City. We get the same thing every time so I can personally say the crab Rangoon and BBQ pork fried rice are amazing. I had the moo shu pork once and loved they made the wraps for you before serving them. They are open all the major holidays! Definitely recommend this restaurant!

This place is a small hidden Chinese restaurant gem in Memphis. Everyone speaks about eating at locations like Asian Palace and New Asia but this place is just as good if not better.

We order the Hainanese Steamed Chicken and Peking pork constantly as well as the steamed oysters here.
Everything comes well seasoned and delicious, if you’re in the mood for some more authentic Chinese family styled dinners come and try it out.

I don’t live in the area but I have eaten here twice in one week due to going to another business in the same shopping center.

I am now obsessed. It is so authentic and delicious. The BEST thing I have had so far is the crab and corn soup. The serving size is for 2 people but I could easily eat 6 people’s worth and still crave more. The crab wontons, peking duck, eggrolls, sweet & sour chicken, and rice are all good too. The service is outstanding. They never let you go without anything. The prices are great too. I wish they would open a place in my neck of the woods because I have been craving that soup!!

This place was so great! We stumbled across it by accident while we were trying to kill some time. First of all, BOTH my husband and I ate here (with leftovers) for a grand total of $21. We went at the tail end of their lunch service, and it wasnt crowded or loud at all. The staff was quick, efficient, and they didn’t hover.

We both got the lunch special and chose egg drop soup. It’s officially the best I’ve had since moving to Memphis: light and flavorful, without being drowned in oil and salt like most Chinese places here. The entrees were above average as well. Cashew chicken had plenty of veggies that were cooked crisp (not at all flaccid like you get most places) and the chicken itself was moist and flavorful. My husband had the General Tso’s Chicken, which was equally delicious, but just a little less spicy than we were used to. The fried rice here is addictive, light and fluffy, with minimal onions (just the way I like it!) and my husband was even impressed with the iced tea I tasted it and I’m pretty sure it was jade, which complimented everything really well!

Best Chinese cuisine we’ve had in the Memphis area, and we will be coming back again and again!

This place has changed. Food and customer service used to be good here. Either the restaurant is under a new owner or the owner has a different priority than before. The portions are tiny. I ordered a $20/seafood delight and got a bird size portion. There are better Chinese restaurants in the area.

Came here for the first time, just to try their peking duck.

Ordered house chicken rice, peking duck and spicy tofu in the end (I was alone)

I was the 2nd guest at the time, service was pretty quick, but no friendliness at all from the male server.

Didn’t mind since I came for the food.

The chicken rice was fine,.portion was big and generous.
Spicy tofu looked appealing, portionwise was alright.

The most disappointing one was Peking duck, meat was chewy and not really flavorful. But it was served very very quick, everything were ready within 20 minutes.

Not really worth my 3 hours + drive. But not a bad place if you like big portions with rational price.

I’m not sure if it was just an off day or if this is the usual but I ordered shrimp lo mein and shrimp fried rice. The lo mein is okay. Very bland. Only thing I can taste is whatever they put on it to make it spicy. (I asked for it to be spicy.) The rice? Horrible. One it’s not fried. Two, it has NO seasonings. Like literally NONE. I forgot I also ordered a spring roll, it was okay. It has a sweet taste and that’s not my preference for spring rolls but overall I’d definitely say this was a waste $22.

There are much better places I’ve eaten. I was just hoping to find a place closer to where I reside. But at this point I won’t complain about my drive to Houston Levee.

Here is the NEW menu, offering surprisingly authentic Chinese cuisine. The salty fish and eggplant dish I had was amazing. It featured tender pieces of eggplant and morsels of salty fish, expertly seasoned with soy sauce, garlic, and a hint of chili, all stir-fried to perfection. The dish was served piping hot, its savory aromas enticing the senses, truly authentic Chinese experience in my opinion.

I’ve lived in Memphis for 7 years and I’ve never been impressed with the Chinese food here. Good Chinese is so hard to find. I found this place by doing a quick Google search and saw it had a high review score. I read the reviews and everyone loved it. I thought we would give it a try.

When we arrived, I was not impressed. When you walk in, it has the dirty rag smell and old worn out decor. We were met by an older Chinese lady that barely spoke English. She showed us to our table, took our drink order and handed us a menu. The menu was pretty much the same as every other Chinese restaurant in America. We ordered our drinks and ordered an appetizer, the pan fried dumplings. They took a note while to cook and they were very fresh and delicious. They were some of the best I’ve ever had. I ordered the cashew chicken. The portions are very liberal, the food is hot, fresh and delicious. Most Chinese places cook all the food at once and reheat it as it’s ordered. This food was made to order and fresh. The vegetables were incredibly fresh and delicious. This is hands down the best Chinese place in Memphis. A diamond in the rough. It doesn’t standout at all, and they could definitely use some marketing help, but the food was on point. A definite place to try.
