No-frills Chinese spot serving salt & pepper chicken wings, Peking duck & egg foo young.

I ordered the fried wings with garlic. They were so scrumptious. I also tried the fried rice with shrimp wow so delicious with added soy sauce. The portions are enough for four people. The price for the meal is fair, large potions and made fresh. You can’t go wrong here the service was excellent as always. Highly recommend this family restaurant, it’s so worth the drive from North County.

We went here on a friend’s recommendation, and they were absolutely right—everything was delicious! We ordered the orange chicken, Peking pork chops, and salt n pepper wings. The food was perfectly cooked; the pork chops especially were incredibly crunchy on the outside. The sauces were nice and thick and sweet, and underneath that wonderful crunch, the meat was juicy and delicious. The service was also very friendly, and we received our food really quick. A great restaurant overall!

We arrived at 9:05pm and there was 1 other family there. We were seated promptly. We ordered 3 appetizers to start, Vegetable Egg Rolls, Pan fried Dumplings and Wonton cream cheese. The appetizers arrived quickly, and they were good. For entrees, we ordered 2-Salt and Pepper Wings, Chicken Fried Rice, Chicken Chow mein, and Salt and Pepper Fish. We loved everything except for the Salt and Pepper Wings. The wings didn’t really have that salt and pepper taste, it tasted like dry fried chicken. The service was good, the server was very attentive with us. We didn’t have to ask for a water refill. Overall it was a good experience and the food was great.

I went here for the salt & pepper wings since a lot of people have recommended them. I was not impressed, there are other places that make them better in Chula Vista. I could taste the re-used oil in which they were fried, its taste was too strong. The fried rice with shrimp was not very tasty, ordinary at best. The orange chicken was alright, but too much filler and very little chicken. Portions were generous. Service was ok. For 3 dishes, it was around $65 before tips, a little too expensive for the quality of the food, in my opinion. Might come back and try other dishes, but not soon. Also, it was a busy Sunday night so things were a little rushed, which could have been a factor in the low quality of the food.

So there are tons of Chinese spots in SD. My favorite is Golden Chopsticks!! They are In my top five places to get salt and pepper chicken wings in the U.S. and I stand by that 100% The wings are crispy on the outside but tender and juicy in the middle. They are seasoned to perfection. Everything else is great but you come for the salt and pepper chicken wings!!

If you love shrimp fried rice, theirs is the best I have had in California!!! Their Salt Pepper Fried chicken and spicy pork chops are also can’t miss. The other dishes were good but not great, including orange chicken and Mongolian beef. Food comes real fast and is always fresh. The service is very friendly. The prices are good for the amount of food and quality of food. The only negative thing is the location, in a strip mall, is very basic. But parking is never a problem!

March 13th: UPDATE REVIEW: Wanted to give it another try for take out. This place is a scam when it comes to salted pepper wings take out. Now there are 15 pieces. With that said, last week, they took out 3 pieces when I ordered an additional item, after I paid first and no tip! Good thing I didn’t again today! Won’t see one ever again.
March 6th:
I’ve been coming here for many years, but my recent takeout experience left me disappointed. I ordered the salted pepper wings and received about 1.5 cups of green onions with them. For $20, I got only 12 pieces, whereas dining in, my wife and I usually get AT LEAST 15 pieces. I don’t think I’ll be ordering takeout again—it’s better to dine in for more food.
I also called to order one item, and when I called back a few minutes later to add another item, the lady said they couldn’t do that. However, when I picked up my order, I was able to add the additional item, and the guy said it wasn’t a problem. Maybe the lady couldn’t understand English that well!
Additionally, when the female manager isn’t around, the employees can be quite loud when picking up dirty utensils, slamming the plates into each other. It’s noisy enough to be heard across the restaurant.

Update 2.1.25
A staple place for Chinese food. But this time they had an amazing Dragon dance performance. I hope you enjoy it.

Friends, the family went to Golden Chopsticks because the kids like it, and secondly they are always FAST!!! So I give 4 stars only because I’m generally not a Chinese food eater (though later I’ll do reviews at other Chinese restaurants that I enjoy), I had a headache, and because I had to base some reviews off the family. So I will say the family enjoyed the Sweet and Sour Fish (fish is always a winner with me), Walnut Shrimp, Mongolian Beef (my favorite because it was flavorful and the meat was soft), and the Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings (super crunchy!). I love Jasmine Tea, and took the remainder home in a cup. This place is always full of people even during the week, so you know it’s a good thing!!
Came again 5/18/22 changed rating to a 5. We ordered the Fried vegetable rice, orange chicken, and salt and pepper chicken. Lots of leftover, the food was delicious! The important part was that the restaurant was open for late night eaters. We came before 8pm and when we left some time after 9, they were still serving food. Prices a little higher likely due to inflation.

Spectacular! The best Chinese food I’ve had in a long time. And, the lunch portion was generous! The staff was very attentive, and the interior of the restaurant was nicely decorated and clean. I’ll be back!

My SD vote for best Salt & Pepper wings as I’ve enjoyed Golden Chopsticks in National City for years!!! Large portions, and items arrive as the menu picture suggests for the most part. What I like most is that you can arrive hungry and upon seating know that your entrées will arrive FRESHLY FAST due to the efficient Kitchen set-up. Each station is equipped to do what they do best.
The staff is friendly…busy indeed, so if your server is missing just grab the attention of another and you’ll get what you need. Note that it’s 8 of 10 times busy, but worth the wait…EXCELLENT for groups.
My entrées on this visit include salt & pepper squid, fish fillet with brown sauce, salt & pepper chicken, house fried rice (you pay for rice no matter the type), yummy yum yum boba Thai tea, and I always get extra garlic/onion/red pepper seasoning in a bowl.
