Plastic fork broke off into the tough breast meat. Had to eat the green beans with a plastic spoon like a baby.
The “zest” sauce was too hot. Zest is lemon, not chili pepper. It’s 150° outside. Make a lemon garlic sauce like that, minus the pepper, a zesty one that doesn’t make me have to break out into a sweat while I’m eating.
The breast was clearly a bad piece. The whole top of it was missing. It was tough like it was left over from last week.
The leg and green beans were phenomenal.
Guess I didn’t earn the privilege of a napkin to eat with my fried chicken after spending $14.
The guy at the window acted like he hated to me. Like he wished I wouldn’t have appeared in front of him. Why the bad vibes I’m just there to get food.
The large Coke was refreshing, especially the way fast food restaurants give you a thimble of coke these days, if you’re lucky to get a drink at all.

Second time ever trying golden chick and I’m glad they have a location on the east side of Hattiesburg. It’s a great quick easy spot to get a homey type of southern food. The chicken tenders and their sauce are great. The sides are good. Great portion sizes for the price. Recommend this place and would come back.

Golden chick was clean. Super fast service. Right across from Zoo. More options for sides than fries. The roll has so much lighter than a biscuit. They also have breakfast.

Really good roasted chicken!! I haven’t tried the fried chicken, you can get that almost everywhere. Their little yeast rolls are really delicious, too. My gravy was kinda lumpy, but def still tasted good, the texture was just off, like the roux /thickener didn’t get blended properly. Would def go back again!!

The employees were friendly and got our food out to us quickly. The food was nice and hot but the taste was mediocre. It was extremely hot. It felt like there was a heater on while it was already hot outside. It made it an uncomfortable experience. I’d come back and give it one more chance but I wasn’t super impressed.

This location could have been for something better than this. A cava or a jack in the box would have been better. $45.00 for a tender meal of baby food, the portions are too small for the price. The chicken is nasty with no seasoning, and the Cayenne pepper they are selling doesn’t make it any better. Our cat wouldn’t even eat it.. I just don’t see this place staying open long and

Food is mediocre. I’ve had better fried chicken at a gas station. Service was extremely slow. There were 2 cars in drive thru and just couple people inside but took 20 minutes before they even took my order at drive thru. They need to speed up their service.

**This Review is based on service** Not customer service! On 7/3/25 I made an attempt around lunch time to order food at the drive through at this location on Hardy st. I asked for a 2 piece dark, thigh and leg and was told they didn’t have any thighs and it would take 20 mins. I then asked for two legs instead the cashier said ok, I asked for okra she told me they didn’t have any! Ok so I asked for the Cajun rice was given my total and drove to the window to pay. Once I got there I was then told they only had a breast and one leg available! Now I’m upset because around lunch time or any time why would a chicken restaurant be out of anything? I then drove off and got lunch else where! I did not have 20 mins to wait on my lunch break. Ok so now it’s 8 pm and my husband makes an attempt to go back to this location just to be told by a very rude nonchalant guy at the window that they didn’t have fried chicken only roasted. My husband asked him how long would it take for them to fry? He answers “we’re not frying any because we don’t have any” and we’re waiting on a truck! This guys was so nasty with his response and remind you this not our first encounter with him! Customers no service cause one way this could’ve been handled was by putting a sign on the order screen saying were currently out of chicken or something! So yea that’s two strikes too many in one day for us! We won’t be returning to this location to be treated like this! Hopefully no one else have to deal with this.

ETA: So I returned to give it a second shot and noticed they had lowered their prices. Much better experience this time regarding the value of what I paid for.
Thought I should give this place a shot, but it’s nothing memorable. I ordered the chicken sandwich combo, and at first, I thought it was a good price, but the sandwich was soooo small.
Also, Hattiesburg truly did not need another fried chicken corporation; this building should have housed a local business. This was my lesson: support local!!

Every time I go they either mess my order up are its going to be a 20 minute wait. I order 4 chicken strips mashed potatoes and gravy. I got 3 strips mashed potatoes no gravy. Everytime I go its something different. If GC doesn’t step in with upper management this place want last long.
