Friendly service with great food. The shrimp with broccoli was tasty. They put actual thought behind all ingredients. I like the hint of ginger. Shrimp fried rice was like that old-style 90s taste. Highly recommend you try.

Ordered large Mapo tofu and got this. Definitely not mapo tofu and not a quart. Ate it anyway, taste was just bland and not my favorite spicy sichuan pepper dish. I dont appreciate paying $9 for a more expensive tofu dish and getting this, when there are better things on the menu for cheaper. Oh well, their other food is pretty decent though they can be rude as other people say.

I know some people may disagree but, I have had extremely positive experiences and I do empathize experiences with Golden Bowl for years now. I really like the food. The service as long as you don’t come too close to closing time is pretty respectable. The portions are pretty good and the prices are very reasonable. In my opinion, it’s an excellent experience. Please remember, it’s a take out joint not a restaurant. But, generally speaking, I don’t think you will be disappointed and the food really is good normally. They are consistently busy too and they’ve been open for years which, is always a good sign.

The food I will not lie is straight. But the fact that I ordered plain white rice and it shows on my receipt that I paid for bbq chicken wings and plain white rice and only got the chicken wings is crazy. I spent $11.70 for my meal and they uber eats came out to a little over $16 is crazy! When I called the lady was really rude ! The receipt clearly saids plain white rice and no additional charge being that it’s plain. Not cool! She told me to take it up with uber eats. All they do is deliver. The error was made with them not fulfilling my order. Never again will I order from there smh

This place has been inconsistent for years, but it’s never been quite so bad as it is now. It all depends on the particular cooks they have in the back – the difference quite literally between a surprisingly four star meal and inedible slop. There is also a glaring discrepancy with their hours, which causes drama when you go to pick up late. If you google the restaurant, the place is open until 10:30. But if you arrive later than 10:15, they look at you like they want to murder you. Apparently, though there isn’t another business like it in town, and they don’t tell you this anywhere but in person, this place closes fifteen minutes early, and if you don’t heed this, you are the devil. I don’t know what happens after 10:15, perhaps the staff turn into werewolves and terrorize the night. Tonight was the last time I’ll give them money. The food wasn’t bad, but the attitude was almost threatening. I’ve been a customer for years, filled their register with cash, and the thanks I get is to be yelled at over a few minutes “lateness”. They turned the lights out on me as I walked out of the restaurant. The angry, bald owner glared at me, then cleared his throat as I passed him, as though to spit upon me – all over an order of chicken wings and fried rice. From the looks of the other reviews I’ve seen recently, I’m not the only one. We’re going into the summer; this is the lean time without all the college kids ordering online, keeping them afloat. Hopefully they will finally give up, sell, and move out of town. Few will miss them.

Bad customer service. I placed an order and it was completely wrong. I called the restaurant to tell them about the order and the woman on the phone started screaming on the phone saying I was wrong for a while. She wouldn’t listen and hung up the phone. I know what I order, we order the same thing every week.
My colleague called back to speak to someone in charge and she said no one was there and hung up again. Very unprofessional and rude.

*If I could give negative stars I would* As a college student, I prefer to order in over cooking 90% of the time so I’m no stranger to how GOOD businesses handle their customers. Unlike other establishments, this place has horrendous customer service. I couldn’t understand the woman who took my order over the phone so my order got messed up, which is no big deal. Things like that happen all of the time. I’m not a high maintenance person so when I received my order and realized I had gotten the wrong thing I brushed it off and decided to keep it (the second time this has happened with this restaurant) after trying it and realizing that it tasted absolutely horribly, I called the restaurant so the right thing could be delivered, standard for when your order arrives and is not what you wanted. The same woman adamantly refused to have someone come deliver the correct item because they were “really busy.” She then told me the only way I could get my correct item was if I paid for it because the thing that was wrongly delivered was “already made”… Any time I’ve had this happen literally anywhere else the restaurant had been more than happy to deliver the correct meal free of charge because it was an accident. I’ve never seen a restaurant give a paying, reoccurring customer attitude over a simple mistake. So rude. Never ordering again. Food is mediocre as well, you can definitely get better chinese for better prices with more appreciative management elsewhere. Don’t waste your money

I lived in New Brunswick and the Somerset area for over 20 years. I moved back to VA in “09”. I used to eat at Mei Mei’s on Hamilton Street and at the Chinese restaurant on Remsen Ave the most. Well The Golde Bowl was nice and roomy. It was clean, the customer service was better than I expected and the food was good not to mention that the portions were nice. It felt good to be back in Jersey and Golden Bowl helped make that happen.
