Don’t be fooled by the appearance

They were one of our favorite food vendors at Wasteland Weekend. Unfortunately we have had 3 bad meals in a row and won’t be back. Prices have gone up and quality and portions have gone down. We ordered pad thai twice and were served a bowl of plain noodle with whole peanuts, no sauce, no veggies. Very low quality. So sad.

Absolutely love this place the food was spot on, the staff were amazing and honestly probably the best Thai I’ve had and I absolutely needed to give a crazy good review. 10/10 will be dropping by again next time I come through Cal City.

So I drive up to the Eastern Sierras quite a bit to go hiking. The amount of decent food is scarce from the Mojave to Bishop (IMO). So I decided to venture slightly off track and head into California City. It was absolutely worth it.
Completely true by other reviews. You do not expect this place in a run down and a bit sketchy area.
The person there was super helpful (I am vegetarian) and had alternative substitutes for people like me.
The green curry was excellent. You really can taste the coconut milk (do not expect shocking green color, it is more muted). Also had pad woon sen and garlic broccoli. All were ample portions and cooked perfectly.
He even brought my to go order out to my car (I was sitting inside with the windows rolled down because I had my dog with me).
Will definitely be back!

The Vietnamese Pho soup looks Ok but totally tasteless. With water instead of broth (and it was supposed to be slow-cooked) 😉 Beef like chewing gum. Thai noodles – tasteless. I do not know what’s wrong? I’ve eaten at over 100 Thai and Vietnamese restaurants in my life and this one has a level of taste like a hospital for surgery patients. Golden Bamboo! Add salt, soy sauce, chilli, sugar, star anise or whatever else. And let me eat with smile. Thai is the most colorful quisine, not the blendest. Kind regards.
