Day In The Life of The #1 BBQ In Texas – GOLDEE’s BBQ
Reviews
The staff was welcoming and friendly and the place had some lawn chairs for customers to use, if needed.
Everything was sold a la carte, by the pound (1/2 & 1/4 as well) Obviously the star of the show is the brisket, but the ribs and sausage are up there as well. I also HIGHLY recommend the Bread Pudding dessert.
Overall, if you are a foodie or just a fan of Texas BBQ, you will not be disappointed. There is a reason Goldee’s remains a top 3 bbq joint in the entire state.
We arrived 1 hour before opening, we were about 30th in line. After the place opened it took about another 30 minutes to get our food.
We got brisket, pork ribs, garlic sausage, pork belly, mac & cheese, southern pork hash, and coleslaw. We went to a couple BBQ places this week; by far Goldee’s meat was 1st place. Smokey and flavorful; didn’t even try the sauce with it, no need for it. Sides; kids and wife loved the Mac & cheese. Coleslaw and has were also a hit, but my favorite was the hash. Finished it off with banana pudding and bread puddings.
It was well worth the 1400 mile road trip. Might even go so far as to saw it is a better reason to come to Texas that seeing my family.
I look forward to my next visit.
Let’s get to the food. It is the real deal. My son and I ordered a beef rib, 4 pork spare ribs, a pound of brisket, and a jalapeño cheddar sausage link. For sides, we ordered cheesy grits, beans, and potato salad.
Outstanding! I thought the star of the show was the pork spare ribs … fall off the bone, but with texture and the flavor popped. There was hint of cumin and it was salty and sweet. Delicious!
I prefer the fat rendered out of my smoked meats as opposed to the wet fat. My son is the opposite. So, we were in heaven. Goldees gives you brisket that is half wet and half dry. I loved the dry end and my son loved the wet end.
As for the sides … the grits were tasty, and the beans were yummy. I dont eat potato salad, but my son said it was good.
We also had the bread pudding and the banana pudding. Both were delicious.
Goldee’s is well worth the wait!!!
Would highly recommend arriving early as the line will astound! Would even suggest pack a chair. But, It is very much worth the wait. We had a party of 9 and ordered a mix of items. Order at the counter and self seating. The brisket was a highlight! But was equally impressed with the ribs, smoked turkey, sausages…. make sure to get mix of the sides. I enjoyed it so much I regularly ship the seasonings back here in Pennsylvania to keep my pantry stocked with both the brisket and all purpose seasonings.
I appreciated the availability of lawn chairs to borrow for the wait in line. I arrived at 9:15 am on a Saturday and sat down with my food around 12:15 pm. There were approximately 60 people in line ahead of me if that helps anyone gauge the wait time.
We ordered 2lbs of brisket a Maple sausage and 1/2 lbs pork ribs. We missed the beef ribs.
