It all started in 1949 when Grandpa Izzy (who emigrated from Poland in 1937) opened a wholesale bagel store in the Bronx, NY. All four of his sons worked there, learning the trade. One of his sons, Artie Goldberg, opened a bagel store in Westwood, NJ in 1965. For years, the family worked seven days a week in the store, including Barbara Goldberg – who is now 92 years old!!! – as well as Terry, Marc, and Howie – his kids. Fast forward to today, and the family still runs the Westwood store, as well as many others in NJ, NY, and PA. Now in its fourth generation, you’ll find Terry’s kids – Stacey, Eric, Heather, and Adam – as well as Marc’s daughter Amanda, and Howie’s daughter Ivy – working for the family business. You could say it’s in our bl

Got a plain bagel with strawberry cream cheese, bagel cane extremely burnt with burnt onion on both sides of the bagel. I am a type 1 diabetic at work and couldn’t make it back to exchange it because I had given myself insulin 15 minutes before eating. My coworker was nice enough to go back and they were extremely rude and laughed in my coworkers face but still remade it.

Headed in again today—and once more, disappointed. My hands aren’t growing, but the sandwiches are definitely shrinking. See photo.

I ordered a toasted croissant, and this is how it came out—flat, unappetizing, and nothing close to what you’d expect for the price. On top of that, the $16 lox, cucumber, and onion bagel I ordered barely had two ounces of lox, plus stale chips on the side. I even asked that the lox be sliced thin and portioned enough for a proper meal, but what I got was underwhelming at best.

The parking is terrible, the staff rarely greet you, and while the owners sit comfortably chatting over coffee, customers are left paying premium prices for declining quality. Portions keep shrinking, prices keep climbing—and somehow we’re expected to accept it.

Very satisfied with the service and the bagels. This is how I remember real NJ deli bagels. Thanks for the blast from the past. Chicago has a lot of great food, but the bagels just are not the same.

I have seen some of the reviews, and you just can’t please some people. We had a party of 4, all getting breakfast sandwiches on bagels. They were all stacked with egg, bacon, and whatever twist made that sandwich unique. The lox & cream cheese with capers was legit and piled with lox.

When we are back visiting family, we are 100% coming here again.

I had been coming here weekly for several months – the pricing is incredibly inconsistent and after comparing receipts (my order never changes) I realized that we had been overcharged just about every single time.

Bagels are burnt, toppings are incorrect, and regardless of how busy they are, they will take 25 minutes every visit.

Will not be returning.

Soooo goood! Delicious bagels and bakery area. Loved how the layout of the place is too. My bagel with scrambled egg and cheese was so good! Definitely have to come back sometime. Parking is in the back of the building.

Not usually one to complain, but this was disappointing. I’m visiting from Long Island and made a special trip up to Jersey this weekend. I specifically chose Goldberg’s of Westwood—30 minutes out of the way—because their website listed chocolate chip bagels, which my nephew loves.

I wanted to surprise my niece and nephew with breakfast this morning (she’s about to celebrate her birthday and loves her rainbow bagel with strawberry cream cheese), so I placed an order through Grubhub. I even added two different cream cheeses to make it extra special.

Unfortunately, no chocolate chip bagel. And only one cream cheese made it into the order. I called, was told the manager would call me back—but no one ever did.

I was trying to create a fun morning for the kids and ended up disappointed. Mistakes happen, but when people go out of their way based on what’s advertised, it’s important to deliver—or at least follow up.

Me and 2 of my siblings from Maryland were taken to Goldbergs Famous Bagels for breakfast. The food was superior, the service was outstanding. We also were gifted French Toast Like Bagels because we were out of towners…. I would highly recommend this business.

Tried this place for breakfast before work, staff was quick and attentive, wasnt aware of any prices when ordering. The BEC on a roll was about $8, the bacon tasted like cheap thin cut bacon. Every bite the bacon became more stringy rather than crunchy bites. The cheese was barely melted on the sandwich. Then the whole sandwich was drowned in ketchup.

I asked for an extra toasted bagel, but they didn’t toast it at all.. and this is not the first time that happened.

A great place I used to love going to that has resorted to dishonest business practices capitalizing on their popularity. Primarily the switcheroo they pull where the bagels on display are at least 20% larger than the bagels you receive. Order with lox and they serve it in tiny plastic containers that prove this, almost like boss is saying to the employees “if you serve a lox bagel that doesn’t fit in here, you’re fired”. I get it, lox is expensive, but come on guys.

Just not worth it when there’s other places locally now that are just as good and don’t give you tiny bagels for a premium price.
