I did delivery, they said it has to be a minimum of $20 to deliver. So my combo was only at $17 so she’s telling me I have to add more stuff… I asked for EXTRA hot sauce with my food she said ok but you need to order more stuff. it gets here and I didn’t even get one pack of hot sauce AND I tipped the driver. I call back and they tell me I need to pay for hot sauce. MIND YOU I was asking for hot sauce the whole time I ordered cause I won’t eat my food without it. Just horrible service and they cheap you.

I order fried chiken wings with fried rice almost every restaurant I go for Chinese. Today I order from this place they gave me 2 wings without the drums attached and gave me 3 drums. It cost 20$ and some change with crab ragoon. I order the same thing from oriental express. Oriental express gave me a a eggroll with my food and it cost 17 dollars with 4 full chicken wings and they are 100x times friendlier. Not sure why gold star is being so cheap and charging top dollar. I would recommend oriental express in wallingford over this place any day of the year. Take the extra 5 mins and drive to oriental express.
*Edit to your response*: I am a “old” customer, before you took over a year ago according to your replies from other reviews. My review is nothing but the truth not bashing you, sorry you took it as bashing your restaurant. Make it make sense. You give 2 wings but 3 drums? The wing and drum come connected you have to cut them into pieces. So what do you do with the other wing end throw it in the trash? Your math is not mathing. If you have 3 drums wouldn’t there atleast be 3 wings along with that. One of the drums didn’t seem like it came off a wing more like it came off a thigh and was a full size drum stick. My statement stands your cheaping out and thats okay. I haven’t been to gold star in the past year but before you came along it was always atleast 3 whole wings. But hey keep charging top dollar. People are not as naive as you think they are.

I recently moved to Wallingford and nervous about trying new places to eat without someone telling me whether the restaurant is good or bad. This place was a home run. My order was made fast and the food was not a let down. One of the best crab Rangoon I’ve ever had in my life. The pan fried dumplings were so yummy but my general Tso chicken was so good. Fresh chicken, not small overcooked pieces, big tasty and definitely ordering from here again. Gold Star goes down so far as one of my favorite spots in Wallingford.

I have been eating there for years. Their food is delicious,however, today was the last time I ever patronize them again. I love 1.7 miles away and called for delivery. Whoever answered the phone didn’t speak English. I asked the radius of the delivery area is and he hung up in my face. Called back and he hung up again. When I went to pick up the food, the ignorant man said that he can’t answer the radius cause his driver is eating right now. I disagreed. He called me a swear and started screaming. They are no where near that good to be treated like that. 22 Chinese restaurants here, I’m sure there are some just as good maybe even better.

Since I have moved to Wallingford , Gold Star has been one of my favorite restaurants! The staff is so nice, friendly and their service is absolutely incredible!! Would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a quality meal!
