Such a cute cafe! We came across it while traveling through Richmond and because they have vegan options, we had to stop! We got the French quarter dip and the cheese pizza with vegan pepperonis. We all fell in love with their food it was so delicious and the atmosphere and cafe are amazing. We especially loved all the artwork and novelty vending machine. Overall a great place to dine for vegetarians, vegans and anyone else who loves good food.

Had breakfast at Gold Lion Café around 10:30 on a Saturday, and the place had such a great vibe. A writing group was quietly meeting, most of the other tables were full, and it felt lively but still calm and welcoming.
I ordered an egg and cheese with tempeh bacon, a side of tots, and a warm, wonderful latte. Everything was delicious.
The service was incredibly warm and friendly. Gold Lion Café is a true community business. You can feel the care, kindness, and intention the moment you walk in. Highly recommend.

Very glad we found this place! The space is very cool and comfortable. Fun that it was fully set up from Halloween.
The people working were warm and friendly. The food was absolutely delicious.
I think there was only one person working in the kitchen, maybe, because my food came out about 15-20 minutes before my partners food.
I look forward to going back and can’t wait to try more of the menu!

Gold Lion Community Cafe is one of the most beautiful spots in Richmond. From the decor, to the art, the food, and the staff, every bit of it was a phenomenal experience. The cocktails were creative and delicious, and I would come back for the panipuri alone. The owner is such a beautiful human being who has such a wonderful passion for caring for the community. Can’t wait to visit again!

The friendliest people – the new host (whose name I didn’t get), the very nice bar manager Holly, the customers, many of whom were swing dancing to classic big band and jazz music. The vibe – bohemian, kind, welcoming, warm and happening. The food – well, the French Dip Au Jus I had was phenomenal. I went vegetarian in 1987 and often think about one of my favorite dishes – French Dip – that I haven’t had in nearly 40 years. This hit the mark except that I miss the horseradish sauce that was included in the French Dips I had at Nick’s Roast Beef in Philly in the 70’s and 80’s. Perhaps next time I’ll bring my own horseradish sauce. Okay, and am absolutely blown away by this on the menu: “Gold Lion is dedicated to combating hunger in Richmond. We provide a community meal to those in need free of charge. If you are hungry and in need, please ask for a meal on Duke’s tab. Qualifying items are a veggie burger, omelette, french toast, powerhouse or a cup of soup and salad.” Makes me cry just retyping it. If I owned a restaurant, I would want it to be this one.

This is a great space to study, grab food with friends, or just hangout. The food and drinks are delicious and all vegan or vegetarian options.
The owners are super friendly and community oriented. They have a clothing closet and support local artists. They space also host a lot of local events and organization meetings. They are also extremely queer and BIPOC friendly; often hosting events led by members of those communities. The space is very cozy and welcoming to all.

The food was incredible! I got the all star breakfast with the tofu scramble and vegan bacon and it was delicious. They also have a lot of vegan desserts including a vegan cheesecake that was really good. Staff was also super nice and helpful. The cafe itself was very cute and had a stage and some events going on. Definitely recommend!

Gold Lion is our new favorite spot! The menu is about equal parts standard American and Indian. So many good vegan options and hands down the BEST matcha lattes I’ve found in this city. BEST vegan buffalo wings too. I love the guava gold smoothie. Great chickn and waffles.
The service is always kind and parking is never too hard to find in the area.

I come here for the Swing (Lindy Hop) nights every other week. The vibe here is super comfortable and the food is great. I like how adventurous they are with their dishes. Also, the drinks are really good! The bartender really knows their stuff. The RuPaul viewing nights are fun too.

Love Gold lion. Amazing food (that happens to be vegan). Very friendly welcoming place serving the community like few other businesses anywhere on Earth. Duke’s Den Bar has a good selection of draft beers too. A must visit in Manchester.
