We got Hot and Sour soup, Peking style pork, and mapo tofu. Flavor and quality was good. They’re what I expected of classic Chinese American dishes that are well executed, really appreciate that it’s not too salty or oily.
Service was quick, friendly, and attentive.
Can I just talk about how well kept this place is??
One very unexpected thing that impressed me the most is actually the overall appearance of the restaurant! You can tell they’ve been around for a while from the style of the interior designs and furnitures. Yet at the same time, they are so clean as if they’re new?! Booths are in near perfect condition, tables and chairs are not grimy like many other places. I did not see any visible dust or noticeable signs of deterioration even on their wall and ceiling decors. It was actually very impressive and I really appreciate the level of intention they put into this business.
While it’s undeniable that the prices lean towards the higher side, this is justified by the demographics of the location. Investing around a hundred bucks for four dishes might seem steep, but the portions are not only substantial but also incredibly delectable. The flavors are a testament to the care and skill invested in the culinary artistry.
What truly sets Golden Chopstick apart is not just the food but the outstanding service. Maggie, our gracious host, ensured every aspect of our dining experience was impeccable. The attention to detail in making sure the food arrived piping hot, delicious, and ready was a testament to the commitment to customer satisfaction.
Now, let’s delve into the gastronomic journey itself. The Mongolian lamb was a symphony of flavors, each bite offering a delightful combination of tender meat and robust spices. The Lover’s Promise lived up to its name, providing a divine experience that tantalized the taste buds. The salt pepper fish was an unbelievable culinary adventure, elevated further by the addition of a homemade chili sauce that allowed for a personalized spice level.
When I come across something that defies a conventional rating scale of 1 to 10, and ventures into the realm of extraordinary, Golden Chopstick undoubtedly falls into that category. This is not just a restaurant; it’s an experience that deserves a permanent place in your phonebook, contacts, or even a business card for seamless and delightful orders. Prepare for a genuine surprise with each visit to this culinary haven.
9/30/24: Came back to this place a second time. The food still tasted as great as before. This time I ordered the honey walnut prawn and general tsou’s chicken. The honey walnut prawns were surprisingly different with interesting addition of sesame seeds. I couldn’t believe the taste afterwards. Best honey walnut prawn I’ve had
We were craving some food with rice and came to this spot for late dinner.
First thing we noticed was that the dining room looks well taken care of. Everything was clean and the decor looked well kept, somewhat dated but that’s what made it stood out.
We got Hot & Sour soup and it lived up to its name. Peking pork chops were on the acidic side. Serving sizes were generous, we ordered 3 dishes in total with rice and had left overs to enjoy another day.
Seems like they also had lots of takeout orders!
However the food quality and taste made up for that not so good experience overall.
While eating, I noticed the staff working hard to keep up with all the takeout and dine-in orders. They were polite and quick with me. I did see a customer get upset about paper plates and utensils, but from my perspective it seemed like a misunderstanding more than “rude service.” Most restaurants only give out extras if you ask, and it looked like the staff were just trying to manage supplies fairly.
Overall, my experience was excellent. Great food, good prices, and friendly service. I’ll definitely be coming back.
