I recently saw a friend of mine post a picture of a sushi roll with thinly sliced steak on top and it instantly caught my attention. I asked where she got it from and she said GoFish.
I walked in and placed my order, along with a few other rolls and some of their egg rolls.
I’ll start with my favorite one. The Texas Roll. On the inside was a crab stick, cream cheese, and avocado. It was topped with fillet mignon, spicy ponzu, crunchy onion, sriracha, and green onion. This is a roll I see myself going back for many times.
The other rolls were the Tornado Roll (deep fried), Fried Calamari Roll, and a California Roll. They weren’t bad at all.
The other star of the show was the egg rolls. They were cooked to perfection and the sauce that comes on the side was excellent.
There’s many more rolls that I plan on trying soon. If you look at the menus posted below, you’ll see that they have a ton of different options to choose from. They also do a happy hour from 2-6pm, where you can get any 2 “famous rolls” for $9.99 or 3 for $13.99.
The staff was able to help me remember the last item I had on my visit from months ago and it tastes even better than before. For anyone that loves a blend of flavors… I recommend the “Out Of Control.”
The rolls come out quick, the presentation is always clean, and the atmosphere is relaxed—perfect for unwinding after a long week. We’ve tried just about everything on the menu, and it’s all been great (especially the Krispy Crunch Roll).
If you’re looking for a sushi place that never disappoints, this is it. Highly recommend!
I had the Shooting Star dish, side of pork gyoza. Service was immediate, staff were helpful and attentive, the waiter was awesome made sure everything was to our liking.
Of three other similar restaurants this was the best tasting and freshest spot. Well worth the price for the quality of food. Will definitely visit again!
Overall, the food is okay. We ordered three different kinds of rolls: the Hello Kitty, a vegetable roll, and a shrimp tempura roll. I personally found the Hello Kitty roll to be too heavy on the cream cheese, but that’s just my opinion. I liked their take on the vegetable roll; it has seasoned tofu alongside several veggies. The rolls are quite large in diameter and I had to cut up some of the pieces to eat them. Again, the food was alright. The free miso soup was a nice touch.
Where GoFish needs to focus is the cleanliness of their building. It has a worn look on the inside that had me questioning the cleanliness of the kitchen. Granted, I realize it is a very small, high-volume restaurant, however, the interior doors are covered in greasy fingerprints where you push them open, there is chipping paint on the wall, the floors look like they could use a good scrubbing, and frankly, the woman’s bathroom was pretty abysmal. I don’t know how the vent fan was still running with all the dust that was on it and the mirror has started to desilver. Also, the front counter area is very compact and small but it is quite cluttered and the equipment needs a good wipe down. One of the signs in front misspelled “Japanese”. The handheld menus were sticky and the table numbers are falling apart. While these are all small things, together they do make me question how clean the kitchen is.
After reading the lower rated reviews, it seems as though this has been an issue for quite some time. As a new customer to the owners, I would encourage you to have a deep clean/touch up day. It’s obvious by the size of the lunch crowd that you are very popular and there’s no reason to lose customers over cleanliness or maintenance issues.
Edited to say: I appreciate the owner’s quick response. This could easily be a five-star restaurant once the maintenance issues have been addressed.
