Great place tucked away in the alleys of the downtown of St. Thomas. I loved the service and the food!

The food is quite simple but so good! Jerk pork chop was wow! The spice blend that they use is quite amazing. I still think about it! Great rice and coleslaw!

Amazing drinks as well! Truly recommend if you are in the area.

Food/Taste/Flavor: 5/5 – Curry goat is super tender and well flavored. Rice was cooked with some beans with a hint of tomato. The plate also came with some cabbages, carrots, and 2 slices of plantain.
Jerk wings (6 piece) had some great kick to it. Well marinated so the chicken actually has flavor rather than just the sauce.
Kalaloo Soup (bowl) was slightly different from what we expected but quite delicious overall. We enjoyed the vegetables and beef in the soup.
Bush Tea was strongly lemongrass flavor with hints of basil

Service: 5/5 – everyone was really friendly and we had no issues as service was quick even though the restaurant was packed.

Ambiance: 5/5 – the lighting is a bit dim but it felt quite homey with paintings on the wall and exposed brick masonry. It had a wine cellar vibe

Value for price: 4/5 – pricing was a bit expensive but it is to be expected since it’s such a touristy area.

This is for breakfast.

I wanted some items off of the lunch menu, but aside from the specials, it’s only breakfast. We had one of the platters, juices, coffee, and sides.

The ham which I think is just Canadian bacon was good. The grits were good. Juices were not fresh. They were pretty watered down.

A little expensive, but overall decently priced.

Prompt and efficient service. Small local Cafe, recommended by a local merchant when I asked where I could find local food. The Conch Chowder was perfectly seasoned, thick and creamy. I couldn’t resist the fresh fruit display on the bar and had fresh Soursop juice. Delicious.

Unfortunately, I did not read the reviews until after my experience at the restaurant. I must say that the path leading to the restaurant is beautiful, absolutely picturesque. Seeing the atmosphere and walking through the alleyway on Sunday morning, I had high hopes for brunch at Gladys’. Yet, my hopes were quickly dashed due to the long wait for order taking, extremely rude Server, and nonexistent customer service.
The server notified us that they were short staffed and she was performing multiple job responsibilities. She told us to hurry up and order and looked annoyed when we asked questions about the menu options. She asked us to be patient about the wait, but had no patience whatsoever for us. When our drinks were brought to the table, she informed us that one person’s order wasn’t available-no cranberry juice. We still felt the disregard and disrespect from earlier and decided to pay for our drinks, cancel our food order and leave. It’s a shame they have someone so mean, rude and severely lacking in proper etiquette to represent this restaurant. I hope the owner reads this or someone who cares about that business reads it so they can make a positive change. The offender is near the beverage machine wearing all black clothes and pink crocs.

I don’t pay people to treat me poorly and we quickly left and went to Indigo 4 for a fantastic brunch and excellent customer service with a smile .

We had the most amazing time at Gladys Cafe. The food was local cuisine and tasted wonderfully. I recommend the Coconut Rum Cake!! We had the Stewed Chicken which was flavorful and fall off the bone. I highly recommend you make this a part of your Charlotte Amile plans. Sit at the bar for special treatment.

Cute spot and opened on Sundays!

Waitress wasn’t too familiar with the menu or food but he was great and had a positive attitude. Food came quick. I ordered the Cesar salad and it was delicious! The soups were blah. Had better and this taste canned. Coffee wasn’t good either.

The interior of Glady’s is so beautiful. Very old world. There is beautiful art on the walls. The restrooms aren’t the cleanest. We were seated immediately. The waitress was friendly and helpful. The curry chicken was SO delicious. Would definitely order again. The chicken wings and jerk chicken sandwich were good. The Callaloo Soup needed salt, I would give it a 7/10. I probably wouldn’t order it again. Overall, I’d go back and order the curry chicken again.

Gladys’ is our go-to breakfast spot whenever we’re in the VI! Unfortunately, we missed breakfast this time (island time got us ), but the food was still absolutely delicious. The only small letdown was the “spicy wings” — they were well-seasoned but definitely milder than expected. I was hoping for a real kick, but they seemed more tailored to the American palate.

That said, everything else we ordered was fantastic. It always feels like an adventure heading into Gladys — the walkway lined with lush plants is just beautiful and sets the perfect island vibe. Still one of our favorite spots on the island!
