When I arrived to pick up the order, the Pepperoni had just come out of the oven, but the Giuseppi Special was still baking. I watched the staff member open the oven and inspect and rotate it, and from the looks of it (which I clearly while saw standing at the counter) the pizza still had a ways to go. I paid at the counter, and the woman there told me we were still waiting on the second pizza… I even said, “take your time,” expecting like a 10 minute wait.
To my surprise, after only 2–3 minutes, she called out that the pizza was ready. I was happy to have a short wait, until we got home.
The Pepperoni looked great and was cooked nicely. The Giuseppi Special, however, was SEVERELY undercooked. The dough was pale, raw, and floppy… more like a wet flabby noodle than a pizza crust. All the sloppy toppings had slid to one side of the gooey base. Trying to pick up a slice was pointless; everything just slid off into puddle of goo on your plate, leaving a square of raw dough in your hand. We each took one bite and threw it in the trash. Total waste of time, money, and food. Whole pizza… in the garbage.
Thankfully, we had the second pizza, but even that left us disappointed. It looked great, but had almost no flavor. I genuinely wondered if it even had sauce, it was that bland. I told my wife it felt like eating pizza with a head cold… you can chew it, but you can’t taste anything.
I’m sure this place can make great pizzas when the effort is there, but when the effort and care aren’t, the result is pretty awful. This was the worst pizza experience I’ve ever had… I mean they screwed up their “Giuseppi Special” pizza… of all the stuff you should nail on your own menu, the “Giuseppi Special” should be high on that list. Honestly, I’d take a frozen pizza or even a Kwik Trip take-and-bake over this any day.
Only a pick-up counter.
