For the past ten years we’ve made a tradition of visiting a dear friend in Lexington while traveling south. Sometimes it’s just a one-night stop, sometimes a few days, but we always take her out for a proper dinner. This trip, arriving from Chicago and following my chiropractor’s enthusiastic recommendation, we chose Giuseppe’s, and it turned out to be a very lovely evening.

The space is warm and inviting, with plenty of wood, cozy lighting, and an impressive display of bourbons and wines that immediately sets a welcoming tone.

We started with gnocchi and mozzarella alla milanese. The gnocchi were nicely al dente and the paired sauces complemented each other well. My husband and I shared the daily special, halibut with a light creamy caper sauce. The fish leaned slightly overcooked, but the flavors were still very enjoyable, and the Brussels sprouts were perfectly done. Our friend ordered the fettuccine Alfredo, and after one bite I understood her happiness… rich, creamy, and comforting.

Dessert became a celebration: a Spumoni Bomba (three gelatos wrapped in a chocolate shell) and a warm maple cake with ice cream that was honestly sinful in the best way.

Our server, Tim, didn’t make the strongest first impression but warmed up quickly becoming attentive and pleasant. Cocktails could use a little more polish, my Old Fashioned was a bit harsh, and I was surprised a Boulevardier wasn’t available despite a Negroni being on the menu and bourbon well represented.

Overall, a very good experience and a wonderful dinner with friends, not bad at all for just a brief stop in town.

First experience here wasn’t the best. Celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary and requested a little bit more private area for dining and that wasn’t honored. Everywhere prior to this place has been able to accommodate very nicely. Our waiter was nice, besides overflowing my water glass and getting the tablecloth soaking wet. I ordered the cup of beef stew for my side and it was absolutely delicious. The main course, not so much. Unfortunately, it was terrible. I ordered the CONCHIGLIONI DI STEPHANO $26, which is…
Pasta shells stuffed with chicken and ricotta cheese, baked with marinara and provolone. It sounded amazing, however the chicken is ground chicken! Like taco meat. It was extremely dry and overly seasoned. The cheese wasn’t melted at all and the only creamy part about it was the marinara on the top. The noodles were overcooked and tough. When I cut into the noodle the chicken just fell out and didn’t have an ounce of liquid to it. I was so disappointed. However, my husband was very satisfied with his meal which was the CHICKEN PEPPERONI $29…..Chicken breasts lightly breaded, fried and stuffed with pepperoni and provolone, served over a bed of spaghetti with marinara. He said his was very good. I was glad about that. They gave us a complimentary piece of red velvet cake for our anniversary. My husband doesn’t like red velvet so I enjoyed most of it myself. The location was not what I expected, it felt like it was down an alley that shouldn’t have been there. Doesn’t look like much of a restaurant when driving up to it, however the inside was nice. They offer valet parking, which we did. The two young gentleman out front were very nice and one opened my door for me. Overall, it wasn’t the best first experience but I will definitely give it another shot and try a different dish and dessert. Hopefully it’ll be better the next time and I can add to my review.

My friends and I went to Giuseppe‘s last night for our Galentine‘s celebration. We had a table of six and to be honest we had a delightful time. Company truly makes the event.

Our server was wonderful, attentive, and personable. The appetizers were delicious and beautifully plated. I wasn’t pleased with the Castle and Key Dirty Gin Martini, but only because I want to drink my martini as dirty as pond water… that’s not on them…(and! My delightful waiter brought me extra brine.)

My concern/problem is that I ordered the Oven Roasted Sea Bass and I am 99.9% sure I was not served Sea Bass. And at $65 a plate I expect a sweet, dense, buttery, melting in my mouth filet of actual Sea Bass! I did not receive that
and I was grossly disappointed!

I wanted to complain, but didn’t want to seem cheap or make a scene, plus how does one prove something isn’t Sea Bass other than anecdotal data of, “I’ve eaten Sea Bass many many times at many different restaurants, and not to sound pompous, but on 2 different continents!”

Anyway, the accompanying spaghetti with lobster was insanely delicious and so was my Tiramisu (5 stars on that) and espresso.

Today, I’ll be making the “Sea Bass” into a Filet o Fish Sandwich for lunch. Bring on the cheese slice and mustard, please! Ugh.

I’ve been to about every “high end’ restaurant in Lex and Cincinnati. Tonight I had the BEST entrée I’ve ever had. The Sea Bass at Giuseppes is absolutely out of this world. Flavor for days, and literally melts in your mouth. Also had the best desert ever, the butter toffee something was spectacular!! Go!!!

My wife and I celebrated our 25th anniversary there. Service, food, atmosphere were perfect. We splurged because of our anniversary, and the price could be expensive, but there are plenty of dishes on their menu that I’m sure are fantastic that are affordable. This will end up being our special restaurant to splurge at as well as our our sit-down restaurant to go get a good meal for a good price. If you’re a seafood lover, I highly recommend the TORTELLINI DI SIMPSON. It’s possibly the best dish of seafood pasta I’ve ever eaten in my life.

I ate here for the first time for my Dads birthday dinner. Such great food and service!! Our server Kate was excellent + a special shoutout to Neymar and Jose in the kitchen who made us something special. And, you really can’t beat the value. Absolutely loved my carbonara Italiano, calamari, and fried mozzarella. I have lived in LA, Miami, and DC and I can say this is some of the best Italian food I’ve had!

Ryan, our server, was very personable and gave great recommendations. Great service and enjoyable to communicate with. The gnocchi appetizer special was so good we could have had that for main course and desert too! Half white sauce and half red sauce was a great recommendation. I also had the pasta special for the main course. The two pastas my wife and I ordered were so good that we tried to convince one another why we each “won” the best meal. Great experience all around!

This place has everything you could want especially if you’re craving amazing Italian food! The garlic bread was the perfect start, warm and full of flavor. We went with our favorites, the Chicken Alfredo and Mushroom Soup, and as always, they didn’t disappoint. Great food, great atmosphere — definitely a spot worth coming back to!
