We stopped in while we were in town before a basketball game and Wow!! We were able to sit at the bar after a minimal wait. The bartender did an amazing job describing the food and he gave us great recommendations. The goat liver, phenomenal!! The perogies, to die for!! The sea bass just melted! Then there is the pig face….The perfect mix of textures make this dish one of the best dishes I ever had!! Such a wonderful experience!!

I wasn’t sure if the restaurant was actually good or just internet hype, but I was pleasantly surprised! The menu has just a few sharing plates, but they are extremely well-crafted with incredible flavors. It’s a total flavor explosion! It’s worth noting that the dishes we ordered were quite spicy and heavily seasoned—which wasn’t mentioned on the menu—but they were delicious! The pistachio and chocolate dessert was absolutely perfect. Getting a reservation is a struggle, but it’s totally worth it lol.The waiter was super efficient but a man of few words, which was totally fine.

When I found out I was coming to Chicago for the week, the first thing I did was book a reservation for The Girl and the Goat! It did not disappoint! It was probably one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time! The restaurant had great atmosphere! The Goat Fashioned was a fantastic drink. I ended up getting four plates, the Chickpea Fritters, Hamachi Poke, Roasted Pig Face, and the Goat Empanadas. They were all amazing and very unique, I would have a hard time picking a favorite.
This is a place you must visit if you are in Chicago area, but make sure you make your reservations ahead of time!

When we arrived at Girl & the Goat, we were initially seated at a table that was extremely cramped, despite there being plenty of open tables available. We were moved to a different table, which we appreciated, but it was still kind of ridiculous that we were placed there in the first place, that table honestly shouldn’t exist.
The food, however, was absolutely phenomenal. We ordered the goat empanadas, curry fried pork belly, confit goat belly, and the roasted pig face. Every dish was savory, sweet, and incredibly well balanced. Four plates for two people was the perfect amount of food, and we left completely satisfied. The drinks were also excellent. It was a great birthday dinner

We had an amazing experience at Girl & The Goat from start to finish. Our server Jake truly made the night — attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely warm. He guided us through the menu perfectly and made the whole experience feel effortless and fun.

Every dish we ordered was outstanding. The goat empanadas were flavorful and perfectly balanced, the chickpeas were packed with texture and spice, and the green beans were simple but absolutely addictive. The pork shank was tender, rich, and ideal for sharing, while the goat belly completely blew us away — incredibly cooked and full of bold flavor.

And dessert… wow. The chocolate pistachio cheesecake was hands down one of the best desserts we’ve ever had — rich, creamy, not overly sweet, and the perfect ending to an already fantastic meal.

Exceptional food, outstanding service, and a memorable dining experience. We can’t wait to come back — and hope to have Jake as our server again! ✨ ️

Amazing food, service, and environment. I was a little worried that the tapas style would not be enough for our group and we would be ordering endless plates. I was pleasantly surprised and we all walked away “fat and happy”. The chicken skewers, pork shank, green beans, branzino, and empanadas were TOP SHELF! I would highly recommend!!!

Really delicious meal in a warm ambience. As a solo diner, I appreciated that they were able to offer a selection of dishes as half portions so that I could try more things. I was also seated almost immediately as I’d made a reservation.
I ordered the stout bread, green beans (1/2 portion), chickpea fritters (1/2 portion) and pumpkin spice cake. Everything was excellent. The stout bread was fluffy, vaguely sweet, and paired beautifully with the pimento cheese. The green beans were perfectly cooked and umami. The chickpea fritters were my favorite dish, unique and just fantastic. My waiter recommended the pumpkin spice cake for dessert, and while I felt extremely basic for ordering it, the cake was sensational. Relating this dish to anything starbucks produces would be an insult. Overall I found my meal here worth the splurge.

I took my fiancé to Girl & the Goat in Chicago for his birthday because of its strong reputation, but unfortunately the experience fell short in several ways. I noted in the reservation that we were celebrating a birthday, and while the menu did say “Happy Birthday,” there was no genuine acknowledgment from the staff. Our server didn’t mention it until the very end, and even then it felt dry and rushed.

I did appreciate the small scoop of ice cream with a candle, but it was hard not to feel disrespected when the couple at the table next to us, also celebrating, received four scoops. We were the same type of party (just the two of us), so the inconsistency felt unnecessary and disappointing.

The overall atmosphere wasn’t what we expected from such a well-known restaurant. None of the staff appeared happy to be there, eye contact was minimal, and the service felt disconnected and indifferent.

As for the food, we were surprised by how underwhelming it was. Girl & the Goat is known for share plates, but the portions barely felt sharable for the price, especially considering the simplicity of some of the ingredients. Many dishes were overly seasoned, sometimes overwhelmingly salty, to the point where the flavors didn’t complement each other. The only standout dish was the green beans, which genuinely lived up to the hype.

For such a highly recommended spot, especially for special occasions, this experience was a major letdown. I expected more care, more consistency, and a more memorable meal. Unfortunately, we left feeling disappointed rather than celebrated.

What an amazing meal! Girl & the Goat absolutely delivered on flavor, creativity, and ambiance.
Every dish was a masterclass in balance. Spices were dialed in just right, and the flavors danced between sweet, spicy, savory, and earthy in a way that kept us reaching for more.

From the first bite to the last, it was clear that the kitchen knows how to layer complexity without overwhelming the palate.

The ingredients felt fresh, the presentation was thoughtful, and the vibe of the place added to the whole experience. It’s the kind of spot where you can taste the passion in every plate.

Flavor, check! Attentive service, check! Sammy was great! Warm and soothing atmosphere, check! Not too loud, easy to have a conversation. Next trip, we’ll be back! Goat empañadas, butternut pierogi, Szechuan bass, and skirt steak with pear were all extremely well balanced, seasoned perfectly, as well as providing some unique and surprising flavor combinations. Hubby even said his favorite was the pierogi and he’s always said he hates it. 😉 Be sure to have the Green beans with cashews as they’ve been on the menu from the beginning.
LOVE this place!!
