Social Profile:

In 1972, Carlo & Jean Giorlando opened a neighborhood po-boy shop, where you would often find Nonna, Jean’s mother, talking to customers and busing tables. In 1985, their son, John Giorlando started working with his parents. In 2003, after 18 years, Carlo’s health began to decline, so John & his brother Paul Giorlando became partners and purchased the restaurant. With John’s 18 years and Paul’s 30 years of restaurant experience, they began to add their own unique recipes and talents to the business.

Blackened fish, signature roast beef sandwiches & other Southern eats in a casual, sit-down space.

We got the beef cutlet (1st pic) and the fried chicken with eggplant (2nd pic). The meat was seasoned alright but the spaghetti had no flavor. I liked the eggplant very well. Sweet tea wasn’t sweet at all.

Food was good, server was nice. My only complaint was the chicken being pink. I brought it to the servers attention and the kitchen staff made a fuss about it saying that the chicken is supposed to be pink. So they took the same piece of chicken and fried it again and so the breading on the chicken became super hard and crunchy and the chicken was still pink. The fries, the chicken parm and the shrimp fettuccine and two fountain drinks were 55 in cash or 58 on card.

This is a wonderful local restaurant. I went two times during my visit here.

The first day I went I picked up some bread pudding and Danielle my server told me I would be back the next day for more. Well, she was right. That was the best bread pudding I ever had. I highly recommend it.

Next day I came back in and I got Mama G’s Eggplant and it was also delicious, I cleaned my plate. After that I loved the bread pudding so much I ordered it again, but to go so I could try their Bananas Foster cheese cake which was also phenomenal. They had just enough warm banana’s foster and sauce to go with the cold cheese cake, it was delightful.

Overall, the service was great, I saw Danielle again the second day and she was awesome both times I had her. The other servers I interacted with in-between were also kind and working diligently. The atmosphere was nice too, you could tell this was more of a local spot with the history behind the restaurant and the overall vibe. This restaurant’s main dishes were delicious themselves, but they absolutely killed it with the desserts I tried.

I will be back here someday, I want to show my friends and family this spot, until then I recommend it to others as well. I hope this place keeps running strong for years to come, because if I ever can’t have that bread pudding again I will cry.

Thank you to all of you who work here and make tasty food

The food, service and atmosphere was incredible!
I am gluten free and I had the Blackened Red Fish.
Our group was seated incredibly fast and they have enough room for big groups too if you don’t mind be separated! We had 12 and were seated quickly!

10/10
Gluten Allergies Peeps-
I highly recommend if you are sensitive to gluten like me ~to just order anything grilled and nothing blackened or order maybe the sausage and red beans & rice!

We had 12 in our group and the food was awesome and they loved their choices for dinner and everyone’s food looked delish and they said it was delicious!
**Now, even though I got sick from something, I am still going to say it was absolutely delicious, if you are gluten free just order grilled not blackened just be safe!**

They served huge proportions too!
Also, a thought ….
I may not have been sick from the blackened seasoning… we had been doing alot of eating out ~ it could have been other places and not the fish.. so I say with precaution- just be aware!

The food was amazing!
The waitress who served us was amazing, sweet and patient!
We gave her a great tip because she deserved it!
The hostess may have been a grandma because she was the cutest petite woman & she was absolutely delightful too!

Very good, old school neighborhood restaurant. Limited parking in the lot so plan on parking on the street, nearby. Started off with great iced tea. Ordered a side salad with blue cheese dressing. Very disappointed in the salad and dressing. It wasn’t some old family recipe. It was handful of packaged lettuce and watery dressing with hardly a hint of blue cheese flavor. I’m thinking, uh oh. I ordered the crawfish ravioli and my wife ordered the eggplant with Alfredo. OUTSTANDING. Really good flavors. I will be back.

This was our first time visiting the restaurant. Let me first say, It’s a lot smaller than I expected. However, it provides a more intimate setting. The portions are amazing and the flavors are on point. I ordered the Cheese and Gravy Fries and the Calamari. I’m a sucker for calamari so every time I visit an Italian restaurant, I have to try their calamari. I like to base an Italian restaurant off of their Calamari, Caesar dressing, Veal and of course Marinara sauce! I don’t eat spaghetti ‍♀️

For the entrees, my youngest son had the kids portion of the Shrimp and Fries. My oldest son had the Shrimp Etouffee which was very impressive. For an Italian restaurant they hit the nail on the head. The gravy was delicious. The rice to gravy ratio was just right. I was really indecisive from what I wanted to order because everything sounded so well on the menu until I saw the Bacon Shrimp and Avocado Salad. Goodness, the shrimp were huge and well seasoned. I couldn’t decide if I wanted the Caesar or the vinaigrette dressing so I opted for both. They make their own croutons and Caesar dressing and as I will tell you, absolutely delicious.

Our server, Chris was impressive. He was well attentive and knew the menu very well. He made sure that our drinks were filled, our table was always cleared and definitely interacted with my youngest. I found his service to be exceptional. I highly recommend him and when we return, I will ask for him.

Prices are fair and the kitchen was fast.

Overall, if they were more stars they would receive it!!

Oh, and their meatballs are HUGE and PLUMP as my son would tell ya!

Found this on vacation to New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl parade, highly recommend. Prices are reasonable, service is great, food was wonderful. The shrimp alfredo was fantastic!! Great atmosphere, something for everyone. If ever back in the area we would definitely eat here again. Parking lot is small, however street parking is available.

Fabulous old-school Italian/Creole restaurant! Typical menu offerings for a New Orleans-area Italian/Creole restaurant: lasagna, pasta dishes, plus po-boys (excellent roast beef!), gumbo, steaks, etc.

The ambience is nice – no fluorescent lighting, tables are well spaced and clean, the service is always outstanding! A very wonderful dining experience. Repeat customer here, I have never had anything less than an amazing dining experience here. 10*/10* One of Metairie’s best hidden gems!

Finally tried this place, and my only regret is not coming sooner. We tried the lasagna, muffaletta and the crawfish ravioli. All three were delicious. The crawfish ravioli was my favorite! The lasagna was very very good! Its now on my top ten list. And so is their muffaletta. Oh, and the blueberry cheese cake was heaven!!

This place has been around for a long long time and once you walk in the door that becomes obvious. It’s one of those classic local restaurant spots where people have been going for decades and the average age of the people in the place represents that. But unlike similar spots in New Orleans like mandinas, I find the food here is much more consistent and good quality. The prices are definitely not cheap but they’re not super expensive, the portions are good, but a good bit of the menu is a la carte so if you order an entree you’ll have to pay extra to get a salad or a side with it. It’s also annoying that things like their homemade onion rings are only available in a very large order that will cost you 12 bucks. Service can be hit and miss but the food usually makes up for it.
