It’s been years since I last visited Giorgio’s Pizzeria, but I finally came back for lunch to meet a good friend, and I’m so glad I did. The decor has changed a bit, but the food still has that same heart and quality that made Giorgio’s an institution in San Francisco.

For those who don’t know, Giorgio’s has been around for decades. It started with the father and has now been passed down to the next generation, the sons and daughter still run the restaurant today, keeping it very much a family operation. You can feel that warmth the moment you walk in. They are the warmest family.

The pizza is still absolutely delicious. They’re generous with their toppings (no skimping here!) and what I love most is that they’ll let you do half-and-half, even on a small pizza, something most places won’t. Prices are also incredibly fair, especially for San Francisco. Honestly, I’d say they’re underrated and under charging with inflation.

We tried the shrimp appetizer in marinara sauce with crostini — so good — and a new salad they’re testing for their upcoming San Rafael location, which I heard is opening sometime before summer. I also had the chicken sausage penne pasta and one of their Everything and Corsican (veggie) half-and-half loaded with flavor. Everything tasted fresh, balanced, and made with care.

I got lucky and saw the family all there. It was nice to see the family working together, one of the siblings was making dough while the others ran the dining room. The crowd was a great mix of longtime locals and families, and it just felt… real.

They do takeouts and delivery through third party platforms but honestly, dining in has its own charm. Located right on Clement Street, Giorgio’s sits in one of the best pockets of the city — close to shops, Green Apple Books, and a few dessert spots for a post-pizza stroll.

If you grew up in San Francisco, you know Giorgio’s. And if you haven’t been yet, go. It’s one of those family-run places that reminds you why local spots matter. Just remember to feed the meter — it’s San Francisco, after all.

I needed a quick lunch nearby and I came across this pizza joint. I got a big slice of pizza and a can of coke for $8. I’m not usually a big fan of thin crust, but this slice was crunchy and delicious. The ratio’s were perfect. Will come again!!

Been going here since the 70’s and remembering the guys tossing the dough on the air, spectacular!

You can smell the pizzas from the outside the restaurant, very inviting!

The pizzas are delicious.

The owners are very nice too!

I’ve been a big fan of Giorgio’s for awhile now and would always order delivery. Now that my family has expanded, we have dined in more and have always had a great experience!

This is a popular place for families and their menu is very kid friendly! We love ordering the Giorgio’s Special. Our baby also enjoyed his dinner of buttered pasta, steamed broccoli and meatballs with a side of bread!

The thin-crust NY-style pizza here is pretty good for Bay Area standards. It’s not as good as those from any random NYC $1.50 slice joint but their water is different so you’d need tap water shipped from NYC to reproduce their recipe perfectly.

I will say Giorgio’s pizza is even better as next-day-leftovers after you reheat on a non-stick pan with a bit of oil to add a thin crispiness layer. Don’t use oven/microwave/airfryer — that will just dry it up.

For dinner, come early .. the lines for tables were out the door

Popped in for a late lunch on a Sunday after reading rave reviews for the pizza, and it didn’t disappoint at all. This is probably one of the best pizza slices I’ve had in the Bay Area. The pasta was great too, and the service was fast and pleasant. You can order slices dining in too, so we got 2 pepperoni slices, two orders of the small pasta (fusili rossa and a make-your-own pesto pasta). The slices came out huge, not kidding, and were really tasty. The crust was flavorful, the cheese and sauce ratio just right, all coming together for a slice that took me back to NYC. The pasta, even though we ordered small, were enough for probably 2 people or 1 very hungry person (me), and was delicious. The prices were reasonable and they didn’t have any hidden service fee add-ons either. A great experience overall, would definitely come back next time I’m in the area.

The BEST pizza I’ve had in the west coast so far!!! Coming from someone that used to have NY large slice pizza everyday for lunch. This is one of the best yet! Freshly made pizza where the crust is in between soft and crunchy. The ingredients (chicken and green pepper) also tasty! Staff is nice too, came around to ask how we thought of the food

We only stopped by the window because we were craving a slice on the way back to the car. Asked for a slice of cheese with some mushrooms on top. After a 5 min wait, wow did they deliver. The slice was HUGE and there were so many great things about it. Of course it was piping hot but we were starving and immediately sacrificed the roofs of our mouths with an eager bite of molten cheese. Was it worth it? YES. Because after that, we got to enjoy that crispy crust. It’s amazing. I rarely have a slice of pizza that makes me wow but Giorgio’s does something special with their crust, the literal foundation to a great pizza experience. Honorable mention to their generous topping of mushrooms, just about covered the slice from edge to edge. They just get it! Loved everything about this slice and I’m sure a whole pie is even better. Can’t wait to find out more…
