So far we’ve tried the katsu, beef, and eel… cooked to perfection. Udon and soup were great, very flavorful! Not sure how they manage to keep the meats from overcooking, but I’m not complaining. Even the poached egg was perfectly cooked! The katsu wasn’t as crispy but that was expected considering we ordered cheese on top and it had to be delivered – but the best part was it came in an aluminum tray so we could just quickly pop it in the oven and rebake it! So thoughtful!!!
The gyudon is extremely oily such that the rice below gets drenched. This leaves no contrast with the rice and the meat becomes a messy eat of the same flat flavor throughout the meal. The egg while a runny consistency only keeps this a runny texture. The meat is a little tough. There’s no ginger.
Service is very quick. You wait outside the ordering window. The tissue they offer are the thickest tissues I have ever used.
Pricing is fairly reasonable considering it’s SF, and quality of rice was notably good. My friend REALLY enjoyed the unajyu / unagyu don!
Repetitively ordered food suggests how good it is!
I do wish the curry was spicier.
This location is in a very “rough” part of town. Recommended you get either delivery or takeout if it isn’t dark outside yet.
The Azasu family meal has a little of everything including a Japanese dessert which I thought was a nice touch. All of the bowls were delicious and the added flourishes from the fancy chopsticks to the takeout container itself were noticed and appreciated by my family. Worth a repeat order when in the mood for takeout or delivery of Japanese comfort food.
