If you judge a book by its cover, you’ll walk right past Gino’s. Nestled on 83rd Street, this is a classic, no-frills, “hole-in-the-wall” establishment that defines the grit and soul of the Upper East Side. There are no fancy Edison bulbs or artisanal flight paddles here—just a counter, the smell of bubbling mozzarella, and some of the best Italian heroes in the borough.

First timer for dinner. Walked past the pizza counter and I knew this was gonna be a great place. My wife and I sat down and the owners themselves were working. The bread came out fast and pipping hot. Served with cold butter this bread is fantastic tasting. The linguni with meatballs ( red sauce) was amazing. The portion was large enough for a second meal. I ate the leftovers several days later and it was still amazing. The eggplant dish my wife had was very tasty as well and she loved it. This is the hidden gem of the East side. Do yourself a favor and enjoy truly excellent Italian fare. You won’t be disappointed.

This place is cash only and doesn’t serve garlic knots. I ordered the lasagna pizza. While the toppings had a lot of flavor, the crust was undercooked and a soupy mess. I had to use a knife and fork to eat it. You can do better on the Upper East Side.

Decent slice but horrible hygiene practices. The guy handling the slices was also answering the phone, working with raw dough, and the handling money.

All with his bare hands while there were 2 other guys standing next to him nothing

This place is absolutely disgusting. Now I know why the health department shut them down for a few weeks last year. Check out this video of a cook shredding cheese in the GARBAGE room. No gloves, open containers, trash cans right next door with roaches and rats.

Health department has been notified. Do yourself a favor and don’t risk getting sick here. Clearly they don’t care about food safety.

The food is very good. The portions are a bit small. The service is a little bit slow but in the end they pull it together. I would give it a 4.5 if I could. Try the chicken piccata with broccoli you won’t be disappointed.

Gino’s has been a local neighborhood pizza place for many, many years, and while there are many other pizza places around, this is both convenient and good. I generally have a slice or two, and I have never had a bad piece of pie. The prices are cheap, service is always friendly, and you won’t be disappointed if you come here for a slice. There’s a few tables inside, plus they have beer and wine. While I’ve never had a main course, what I’ve seen looks pretty darn good…

Just moved in to the neighborhood. Everything you could want in an NYC pizza and pasta spot. What a great slice!

Cozy restaurant with A sanitary grade, great atmo and fair prices. I visited the place on a weekday evening and it was almost full. Seems it’s a neighborhood’s favorite venue. I had a slice of pizza which was quite good (…but not the best in the city). I’m definitely going to taste other items from their menu soon. Also, its cash only!
