It was a fairly hot one that day in the mid 80s and after that exhausting walk from the car, was hoping to walk into a nice air conditioned venue but I was wrong. If the AC was on, it wasn’t pushing much needed cool air on a hot day.
Anyways the pizza here is good if not a bit pricy, maybe not quite the experience as down in South Loop in terms of taste and the vibe but the service was prompt and friendly and the tables were clean.
If ever up this way again, maybe we’ll come up in the spring or fall on a calm cool day instead. There’s not too many of these around and sadly no more in Lake County so I hope for continued boomin’ business for the owner(s).
When we asked for a medium pizza, she said they were “out of” medium. We found it a bit odd that they would be “out of” a particular size of pizza?
We therefore ordered a large thin crust margarita pizza, and it was frankly appalling. The crust was of the same consistency (and taste) as a saltine cracker. The sauce was lackluster and dry with a good 30 – 40% of the pizza having no cheese on it at all; there were just a few blobs of fairly tasteless mozzarella slapped on it at random.
While the waitress was not frankly impolite, she was utterly unengaged.
We ordered a house salad and received a generous portion. It was an average tasting salad.
We gave them four stars for atmosphere as it is a very pleasant place with a good view. They close at nine but we got there before 8 PM and there were very few people in the restaurant at that time.
Finally, the pizza was vastly overpriced at $28.
Great spinach artichoke dip
Get the sausage patty! It’s exactly like I remember from my childhood — sitting in a small booth in Chicago, sharing a pie and carving my girlfriend’s name (who’s now my wife of over 30 years) into the wall. This Lake Geneva location delivers the same quality pies and authentic flavor that made those memories so special.
You can’t write on the walls here, but the pizza is still absolutely amazing!
I was very impressed with the dough and sauce. Perfect combination of crispness and flavor.
The service was very good despite not being fully staffed.
The mozzarella sticks were great!
I would not recommend the fried calamari. It was not crispy enough.
Adding more toppings can increase the bill very fast!
Overall I would definitely recommend trying this place.
The view was phenomenal.
