We then proceeded to get the rest of the food, the southern fried chicken meal and the biscuits and gravy. I HAVE NEVER had so much food that had no flavor, was unseasoned, and absolutely atrocious. All of the fried food, the potatoes, the chicken, and the French fries we ordered, tasted like dirty oil with nothing to taste except that. It was awful. The gravy had 0 seasoning, and tasted like chunky milk. Even covering the food in hot sauce did nothing for it. The bacon we got was clumped together with some burned parts and some raw parts which is just nasty.
We never received the pancakes because the waitress forgot to put them in which happens, but they took them off and acted like they did us a favor even though we never received the food.
They told us they took them off and asked how our food was and if we needed boxes which we proceeded to say no and obviously didn’t eat anything, which the waitress saw, but never said anything. After going up to pay, we let the hostess and manager know and the manager acted like we inconvenienced her, rather than taking off some of the food of the $55 ticket that we didn’t eat, she gave us 20% off and acted like taking the pancakes off was part of the discount. We still paid $45 for food we didn’t eat and for bad service.
I’m unsure why this place had such great reviews, but it was disgusting. I wish I could rate it 0 stars.
Also the seasoning on the food that you see, was done by us. Definitely not by the cooks.
Our server, Treasure, is well named! She is delightful- knows the menu and as this was our first visit, took us through the entire menu to aid in our selections. She was attentive without interrupting our dining experience. She’s an asset to this establishment, which is already doing so much right!
The bussers stand at the edge of the dining rooms just watching for a need to be met. They are efficient, and hustle! Shout out to their excellent training and work ethic.
Our food was perfect and arrived piping hot. The fried chicken is worth the extra wait! One of Treasure’s recommendations that we are glad we took. Fried okra and cornbread stuffing finished that plate off nicely.
I was undecided on what to order, so Treasure kindly offered to bring me a sample of their red sauce to help me out. It’s great and so I went with the chicken parmesan. The chicken was tender with a crispy coating, the sauce coated the pasta and stayed- a feat some Italian-specialty restaurants miss the mark on. An excellent lunch choice!
We both had one of their several soup of the day selections- Chicken Pot Pie Soup. Wowzers! Chock full of chicken in a perfectly thick, vegetable laden, gravy-like soup. Another of Treasure’s recommendations hit right outta the park!
We arrived at Gingham’s around 1:30 on a Saturday afternoon. We were warmly greeted at the door by both hostesses and immediately seated. The flow of guests was steady well past 2pm. But the feel of this restaurant is friendly and the staff so attentive we felt perfectly at home from start to finish. As I looked around the dining room, everyone was relaxed and visiting happily- a true testimony to the excellence of this restaurant. To the locals- how blessed you are to get to enjoy this wonderful family restaurant- take good care of them and support them often. To out of town guests- you don’t want to miss this one! Treat yourself to a delicious meal and ask for Treasure! She’s a gem
