Gilshar Greek Cafe is a local favorite in Port Jefferson Station, NY. The restaurant offers a pleasant dining environment inside Port Plaza, with well-arranged tables and greenery that create a relaxing vibe. Service was quick and friendly.
I tried the Lamb Gyro Combo with fries and Greek salad. The salad was fresh and traditional, albeit missing red onion and oregano. The French fries were simply seasoned with Greek spices, but the lamb gyro was fantastic, generously sized and packed with flavorful, rotisserie-cooked lamb. Overall, the prices are reasonable, and the portions are great. I’ll definitely come back!

I ordered a salad from Gilshar and had a terrible experience. The pita bread had a hair in it, and as I started mixing my salad (with the dressing still unopened), I found another hair inside. I contacted the restaurant and sent them clear video proof showing that nothing had been touched.
Despite this, the owner claimed the hair “must be mine” and refused to issue a refund. I even offered to bring the food back. The cashier hung up on me during the call, and afterward they stopped answering completely. Extremely unprofessional and unsanitary. I will not be ordering from here again.

My family and I eat here 1 to 2 times a week! The food is always fresh and delicious, the staff is friendly and welcoming. We have tried just about everything on the menu and never a disappointment. I happen to live in port Jefferson but I have family members in Smithtown and Hauppague that drive out for food. It’s BYOB but there is a BIG liquor store a few doors over in the shopping center if you wanted something adult to drink. It’s also very clean. Highly recommended

The food was good. The salad was great! The lemonade was delicious. I ordered a spinach pie type meal and had to pay for tzatziki sauce. It was a little hot inside. We WILL be going back:)

I will never order from here again. If you do, be aware you might wait over an hour longer than you were supposed to and still not get your food. After giving them 40 minutes to make my two chicken gyros (how long should that take really) it appeared they clearly lost my order as at least 8 other people got orders as they came in after me. After waiting another 40 minutes I finally had to ask for a refund. Ridiculous. The young women working the floor tried to help me and were lovely but I will never deal with the owner/manager again. He clearly doesn’t understand customer service because instead of giving me the food he refused and lost a customer who orders every few months.

OMG …. that was THE best Gyro I’ve ever had! And huge … no judgment, I ate the whole thing. The favors of the meat were incredible. It was savory, hot and delicious. I could not take a picture because I dove right in. You can tell they know what they are doing and are proud of what they serve. The tzatziki has be homemade, that was so good.
We were immediately greeted and the service was spot on. She was smiling and friendly. Overall great experience. I highly recommend checking this place out!

Coming here around ten years, they recently started increasing prices, again, and when I ordered the hummus platter this is what I got. Haven’t ordered again since, really disappointing. I’ve learned not to complain when they do something like this, because they always say they’ve been doing the same thing for years and nobody has ever complained. For any single issue I get this same response, there was literally less than $0.25 of feta, and I PAID FOR EXTRA VEGETABLES – they gave me TWO maybe that could be 3 OLIVES. I want my money back, but I wont argue with these owners over their mistakes,

Gilshar is consistently delicious every time I order. Whether it is take out or sitting down, I’m never disappointed with the food or welcoming atmosphere. My favorite thing on the menu is their grilled chicken over salad with added grilled onions. I get a Greek salad almost everywhere I go, and they have by far the best one!! Their gyros are delicious too. Best Greek food around!!
