I have visited Gill’s Delicatessen twice now and I have been a satisfied diner on both occasions. This unpretentious establishment does what it does well and has no need to pretend to be anything else. The dining space is comfortable, but in an expected style. The breads, Sandwich filling (meats or veggies), garnish options, side dishes, and desserts will satisfy your tastes. Let them know what you want and let them craft a sandwich, grinder, or special order for you. A good meal at a reasonable price.

I am pretty picky on subs/grinders and I loved with Grinders we had (Number 2 combo grinder). We were coming to Rutland for a concert and stopped in. Best subs I have had a LONG time. We will be back!!

I’m writing this review because the employee’s are awesome, I decided to buy grinders for dinner, (so it was just after 5 and they were busy) Melissa waited on me after a few people in front of me got there orders completed. She was so friendly and patient with it being so busy, so are all the staff. Way to go, what a great team of employee’s. The grinders are also delicious!!!

( happy I found d out about this wonderful place. I’m on a mission to try every sub cause I am waiting to have a bad one( one I don’t like cause of ingredients on it) and I don’t think that’s going to happen. The same wonderful lady makes my sub every time ( Lori) so friendly and nice, but all the ladies are very nice. It rare to find good food, good service in one place all the time. Thanks

Visited from out of town after seeing place listed as the best delicatessen in VT. Kinda makes me sad for VT. First let me say, it was acceptable food. But a few things to know. Portions were good for the price. Grinder rolls are non descript and don’t hold up to oil well. Lettuce is an upcharge, default topping is shredded cabbage. Pickles were very good. Deviled eggs bland. Pasta salad very good. Mac’s meh. You can dine in but it feels like an abandoned library. Layout is awkward and five people in line made it very uncomfortable. I was apparently standing in a staff members way and she gave me the nastiest can I help I’ve ever heard followed by a the line is over there as I tried to look into the sandwich prep case. Like I was her her kid. Anyway, fine to try, decent value but mind your P’s and Q’s I guess.

Absolutely delicious not to mention fairly inexpensive!! Me and my friends often drive from Bennington to rutland just for gills. The hot meat sandwich is the best and the portions are awesome!! The staff are some of the most friendly people I have ever met they are so kind and funny too!! I highly Recommend this place ‼️

A fan of 40yrs+ now. Their bread is the best. Healthy portions. Shredded cabbage is recommended if you’ve never tried it, instead of lettuce. They now accept card payments, finalllly!!

We order for work and the past 2 times we have been very disappointed. We know prices and supplies are an issue. But to charge $10 for a mini sub with hardly anything on it seems a bit much. Some cabbage and veggies would have helped.
