This restaurant didn’t look like much from the outside, but CERTAINLY told a MUCH DIFFERENT story once inside & indulging on their delicious seafood The Shrimp & Grits were delicious & my palate was very excited and satisfied the entire time I was eating them! The appetizer of Fried Green Tomatoes was a perfect choice with the remoulade. I will DEFINITELY visit again when I’m in the are! We were visiting from Greenville, SC for my nephew’s dedication service at Freedom Church in Monks Corner. My sister, who lives in N. Charleston, suggested Gilligan’s to celebrate my mother’s upcoming 84th birthday, which was actually the following day because she loves loves seafood!!! EVERYONE in our party REALLY enjoyed their food!! They offered my mother a complimentary slice of Key Lime or Peanut Butter pie to celebrate Thank you, Gilligan’s of Monks Corner for an AMAZING dining experience!!

First-time visitor but not a last time visitor. The restaurant is awesome and the people are so kind and inviting. It was busy and a little bit of a wait but I think that’s a good sign at a restaurant. Inside was really nice and clean but we sat outside to watch the boats on the water and it was a perfect atmosphere. They bring complimentary hush puppies that are excellent. I got the fresh catfish and shrimp with fries and slaw. My husband got the founder and shrimp, and our son got the fried shrimp basket as well. The food was excellent!!! Great people and great service, and I can’t wait to go back. By the way, get the cheese sticks, too.

The location is really the takeaway here, it’s right on the water. The food was great, we went on a Friday evening seated very quickly. Our server Jenn was awesome, kept our drinks refilled and advised on the mozzarella sticks. Overall it’s a great little spot in the Moncks, it’s tucked away.

We ate several items from the menu. Our favorites were the hush puppies and fried shrimp. The hush puppies had a crunchy exterior and a sweet interior. The shrimp were flavorful, tender and light with a beautiful golden batter. We also had the grouper bites and the crabby patty (crab cake + beef patty). The crab cake is a star all by itself. The grouper bites needed some salt but were fried perfectly. Would definitely eat here again. Great customer service and nice location on the Tailrace canal.

The food is great the service is pretty decent however this place has the most awful salad bowls known to mankind. What kind if person looks at a salad bowl thats 6 inches and tapers down to 3 inches and decides yes that is absolutely what everyone who does here needs in their life. I mean seriously I shouldn’t have to stack my salad bowl in a hush puppies tray (the hush puppies are phenomenal btw) just eat it like a normal civilized human being. It truly makes you think twice before deciding to eat healthy. Bottom line if youre coming here the food is amazing the salad bowls are awful.

The location of this is place is amazing just wish the service and food was better. I went there on Father’s Day. The server was not pleasant at all. I felt like she was just there but not happy at all. She was like, “What do you want and did not mention anything about specials or recommend anything. I know we all have bad days, but this was terrible. We got our food, and I got to say the fish was overcooked, and the shrimp had no flavor at all. As I was sitting there waiting to leave, I did find out they had a Father’s Day special, which sounded so good. Again, I have been to this location, and ladson, both times were great, so I get bad days, but this was not a fun experience.

Also ordered the Crabby Pattie burger which was also good. Their fries were surprisingly REALLY good. Some of the best fries I’ve had.
Atmosphere is nice down by the river. Highly recommend this location.

Whenever we visit my brother-in-law, we ALWAYS eat here. I love the atmosphere. The river view is beautiful. Always have a wonderful time with the waitresses. Any chance we get, we try to eat outside. It was too cold this time. We always get steamed oysters. Soooo good! Can’t wait to come back.
