Great people making great food. We went for my wife’s birthday. She loves hamburgers. Gilbert’s hamburgers were thick, flavorful and cooked perfectly to order. We loved the grilled wings with their homemade ranch. We also had, plain and sweet potato fries, coleslaw, everything perfect. We celibrated over Gilbert’s Carmel brownie cheesecake. Honestly, we showed up late and they still served us with kindness. The owner actually helped walk us through the menu, telling us great info about what makes their food so good. Don’t miss this place is you’re looking for some great food and people in Ft. Lauderdale.

All the great reviews here are correct! We walked in and Richard took our order and helped answer our questions. He was very nice! Then we took a seat and shortly our order came out. The waitstaff were all very attentive and friendly and they actually seemed genuinely happy to be there. It was refreshing! And our burgers and fries were fresh, perfectly cooked and delicious! We were staying at the Embassy Suites just around the corner and wished we had discovered this place earlier in our trip! Would go back to this place in a heartbeat!

From the moment you walk in you are greeted by the mother and son owners. The mother gave us a background that it’s a family restaurant using organic grass fed angus beef for their hamburgers. She told us they also have chicken wings, fish, soup and other things. She was super sweet and asked us what we liked and preferences.
We then walked past the sweets and saw key lime pies, fresh cookies, and other delicious looking sweets. The son then took our order in front of the open kitchen where you could see the cooks grilling up everything right in front of your eyes. I ordered a cheeseburger and onion rings.
The cheeseburger tasted how Le Tub (Hollywood) used to taste, before the owners sold it. It was delicious, just the right amount of salt, and a slight charcoal to it, amazing. Also it’s a thick large patty and was cooked perfectly to temperature medium rare. Also the onion rings were really nice and crunchy and salty.
The atmosphere is a burger joint so nothing fancy but really homely and nice. My only complaint is that they could’ve toasted the buns, but I will define going back for more burgers.

Wow! We landed at FLL airport and wanted to eat something on the way to the hotel. This ended up being the perfect spot. The staff and service were fantastic. The food was incredible. We’ll be stopping on the way back to the airport as well.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by the legendary founder Lenore Gilbert herself, who likes to provide advice. So fast you could almost place it in the fast casual category. You order at the counter but they bring the meal to the table.

Grabbed a burger and fries as thats what they said they are known for. It was a very thick burger, but perfectly cooked and the quality of the beef was decent. A little on the higher price side for a burger and fries.
We also ordered some of the jerk wings, and those were great, well cooked and full of flavor! They use full wing sections, so its almost two for one. The menu and interior has the feel of a more upscale version of five guys.
The one thing I didn’t try, was the massive cookies. They looked absolutely amazing though.

Gilbert’s 17th Street Grill is an absolute must when you’re in the area! From the moment we walked in, the owner personally greeted us and took the time to explain the menu, which made the experience feel so welcoming and special. You can tell she truly cares about her customers and her food.
The menu has a great variety of options, and the burgers are hands down some of the best in the area; juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. We went as a family and tried the burgers, ribs, and the cod fish sandwich, and every single dish was amazing. The ribs were tender and full of flavor, and the cod fish sandwich was fresh and delicious.
Special shoutout to our server Wellington for being attentive, friendly, and making sure everything was perfect throughout our visit. You truly made us feel taken care of. Huge kudos to the chefs as well for absolutely nailing every dish; you can taste the passion and skill in every bite.
