We came for our combined birthday dinner to start our weekend of celebrating. Drinks at the bar and then to our lake view table for yummy dinner. Jagger schnitzel for me, which was thin and coating crispy the mushroom gravy was amazing too. Spatzel and red cabbage sides were delicious. He had the rouladen and potato dumplings and said it was really good. Our waitress was fantastic and brought us a chocolate lava cake with door county cherry sauce to share for dessert. We will definitely be back again!

The soup and appetizers were amazing. Waiting for 2 hours to eat after our reservations was a little much. For what we paid for the prime rib it should have melted im my mouth. It was very stringy almost flavorless and for the most part one of the tougher ones I’ve had. For the amount of money spent here I would have thought we would have received an all around better experience. This was the first and last time going there.

A place on Lake Michigan, chosen for our 35th Anniversary trip. We are from the South of Wisconsin, but came to Algoma for a long weekend. Gib’s reviews caught our eye. Glad I got a reservation because for a Sunday supper, they were full. The two waitresses did well, but you’ll come and relax, and if you are in a hurry don’t come. Courses came slow, but they were busy. Food was great. Bread, appetizers, salad, main course, and after dinner drinks came spread out in time, but it was good.
The ribs and Walleye are most ordered and are worth it. Very tasty, made carefully and brought to our table with care. And, the usual Supper Club ice cream drinks are all there and refreshing!
Definitely a destination dinner, enjoy the food and the views and the staff, but make a reservation!!

We have been here twice now for birthday celebrations, once with 6 and once with 12 people. Both times majority of the food was amazing. The first visit my daughter did not like the child’s portion of the Alfredo because of the way the cheese smelled and tasted. Most kids aren’t used to the “smelly” cheeses when ordering Alfredo. She opted to have some French fries in place of it and she didn’t like those because the grease may have been old and they didn’t taste right to the adults at the table either. My mom was celebrating her 70th birthday on our first visit and she chose a cheesecake for her celebration dessert. We were charged for her dessert and I thought that was odd because I’ve never been charged for a birthday dessert at a restaurant (on the actual day of someone’s birthday especially). I asked about it and the server said that they do charge for the birthday desserts.
On our second visit, we had 6 people and we all ordered filet mignon steaks in celebration of my late father’s birthday. The steaks were all amazing, except one was supposed to be medium and was very rare. They took it back and cooked it some more. We also got onion peels and cheese curds which were great. They did not taste like the grease was bad like the French fries on our first visit.
I would definitely recommend this place for steaks and sides but not for Alfredo.

We didn’t know we needed a reservation on a Thursday. We enjoyed old fashions at the bar while we waited for our table. We were in no hurry but we did wait over an hour. We looked forward to their German cuisine which they have on Wednesday and Thursday nights. All was delicious, even our chocolate lava cake.

Lobster and shrimp bisque was brown. Tasted all right but you eat with your eyes first and being served brown soup was not fun. Fried shrimp was decent, fries were brown and not seasoned. Bread basket had 4 tiny slices and two pads of butter. My husband had sirloin and ordered with with mushrooms and onions which were forgotten. And brought out 3-5 min later. His steak was ordered med rare and was different temps all the way through. His salad was decent.

We enjoyed our first visit in early June and loved how we were treated; the view from our table, service and the food were all wonderful. The bartender went the extra mile, learning how to make a fab Sidecar cocktail for me. Their deep fried apps (onion petals, cheese curds and pickles) were tasty. The Konigsberger Klopse meatballs in white sauce with capers and spaetzle were delicious as were the Rouladen and potato dumplings! Lava cake with Door County cherries and creme brulee were a treat, too! Highly recommend Gib’s On the Lake!

My god…. Awesome place. Everything we got (party of 4) was reviewed by excellent. I got prime rib. Perfect flavoring and doneness level. Husband got New York strip. Looked beautiful and he said it was delicious. Friend got sirloin. Also delicious. Other friend got schnitzel and said it was great. Server and other staff were super friendly, outgoing and on top of things. Can’t wait to go back.

Gib’s is one of our favorite spots to dine as a family. They have the Wisconsin supper club vibe with a twist. They offer your typical steak, fish, and chicken options as well as pasta dishes. If you visit on a Wednesday or Thursday, they offer German cuisine, but we have never dined then to offer an opinion there. I would recommend the frickles (served as spears vs. chips) as an appetizer. The desserts are rich and worth saving room for or taking to-go. We always have excellent service and they offer some prime views of the lake at the front of the restaurant!
