Gibbs hosted a reservation-only event for valentines day. We chose one of each of the menu items and each tried each one to see which one we liked. The prosciutto flatbread was a tasty appetizer-not overly salty and the contrasting sweetness of the fig balanced across the palate.
The second course was an option of the classic Caesar or an apple, walnut and cheddar salad. The apple walnut salad had a creamy raspberry dressing. Both salads were prepared well, thought i thought apple walnut was better.
Third course was the main dishes of prime rib with twice baked potatoes, au jus and a horseradish sauce. I would preferred a strong bite to the horsey-sauce, but it was tasty. The prime rib was cooked perfectly medium-rare. The potatoes were done well – a light crust and tender/fluffy inside. Kaycie’s chicken was a good chicken and pasta dish with a side of grilled zucchini. The only negative of the whole meal was the chicken being more dried out than I like. It was, however, offset by a delicious cheese sauced angel hair pasta.
The final course was dessert, which offered a dark chocolate raspberry cheesecake and a Smore’s creme brulee. We were pretty filled up at this point, and hadn’t been able to finish the main course items. We saved room for a tasting of both items. The smores dessert had a smooth, creamy, chocolate puree under a bed of graham crackers with optional mini marshmallows and a piece of Hershey’s chocolate bar. The cheesecake had a good density and a surprising raspberry filling in the center.

The staff were attentive and personable. Everyone partnered on bringing each course out, clearing dishes when we finished and refilling drinks.

It was a cozy and quiet atmosphere for this event. I was so impressed with everything that I asked for their regular menu to see if it was a place I would return. I look forward to our next meal here!

They are only open a few days per week, so make sure they will be open if you are hoping to enjoy a good meal.

Meal came with 2 sides and was charged +$3 for sweet potato fries on the final ticket despite no mention from the waitress or anywhere on the menu. Was told, “I don’t make the rules.” And the waitress left without any apology.

Summary: There are undisclosed extra charges they’ll stick you with on the final bill.

I’ve been to Gibbs a couple of times. Every time the food has been pretty darn good. I haven’t had anything blow my mind but I definitely don’t have any complaints. Today I was there with a buddy of mine and I ordered the omelette. But I didn’t want to pick from their recipes. I wanted everything. Onions, peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, cheese, bacon, sausage, and ham. It was probably in my top five omelettes ever. The staff are nice and courteous while having a personal touch to their conversation. I will be back.

Great place for breakfast. Stanton is a great town. A town proud of their Viking heritage, as am I.

There for Sunday brunch with group of 6. The Western omelet was OK. Food and beverages came out at different times so group did not have beverages or food at the same time. I recommend the Swedish pancakes.

EVERYTHING was great! From the time you walked in the door until you left welcomed and they treated you as if you were the only one in the restaurant.

The food is about Texas road house, minus any complimentary bread – but 20% more expensive. Really nice old building inside. Waitress could check up more and offer refills on drink, one drink was it, total, guess you need to sneak in a bottle of water (good greif). High end dining on a cheap menu – i don’t recommend
