Gianni Ristorante – Italian restaurant in The Thep Maha Nakhon …
Reviews
We had another wonderful evening at Gianni and it once again reminded us why this restaurant stands out in Bangkok’s dining scene.
We started with the ravioli filled with foie gras – beautifully rich yet perfectly balanced and never heavy. The Iberico pork pluma was outstanding, tender and full of flavour, and the lamb ossobuco with polenta was slow-cooked to perfection, melting with every bite. Dessert was the Gianduiotto, simple, indulgent and exactly what you want to finish a great Italian meal.
What truly elevated the experience was Matteo. His knowledge of the menu and wine list is exceptional, but it’s his genuine warmth and attention to detail that really make the difference. He reads the table perfectly, never intrusive, always there at exactly the right moment, and his wine recommendation – the Tanca Farra – was absolutely spot on and paired beautifully with every dish.
Service like this is rare. Matteo makes you feel like a valued guest rather than just another table, and that personal touch is what keeps us coming back.
Gianni is one of those restaurants you return to when you want to be completely confident you’ll have a fantastic evening – authentic Italian food, excellent wines and truly memorable service. We will certainly be back again.
Gianni Ristorante
This is Italian cuisine done with confidence and restraint.
The seafood risotto is rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced—deep flavor without being heavy . The carpaccio is clean and elegant, thinly sliced, fresh, and seasoned just right ✨. Even the Caesar salad stands out: crisp, classic, and executed with care .
You can tell this kitchen respects ingredients and technique. No unnecessary drama, just honest, high-quality Italian food presented beautifully.
A place to slow down, enjoy, and let the plates speak for themselves.
I’ll gladly return.
This is easily one of my most frequently visited Italian restaurants in Bangkok, and for good reason. Gianni consistently maintains an impressive standard – every dish is flavourful, refined, and beautifully presented. Pastas are a true highlight here; almost every variety I’ve tried has been outstanding, from seafood specialties to the rich, house-made classics.
The corkage fee is very reasonable, making it easy to enjoy your favourite bottles alongside their menu (we paired ours with a Champagne Pierre Gimonnet Chouilly Grand Cru Special Club 2016 – a wonderful match to their seafood dishes).
The location is also extremely convenient and comfortable, creating an elegant yet relaxed atmosphere perfect for both casual and special occasions.
Please see my photos for a glimpse of the dishes and wines that made our evening memorable.
The ambiance is sophisticated yet welcoming, ideal for both special occasions and intimate dinners. Service is attentive, professional, and adds to the overall luxurious experience.
If you’re seeking authentic Italian fine dining in Bangkok, Gianni is a true gem worth every visit.
My wife and I were not too hungry so we ordered two starters and one main to share.
After the obligatory amuse bouche and bread (both delicious) we had blue fin tuna tartare and San Daniele ham with figs. These were so good. The tuna was delicate and subtle. I have never had San Daniele ham. It is less well known that Parma ham but is sweeter and more subtle. I much prefer it now. Went very well with figs.
For our main we shared strozzapreti lamb ragout. The serving was not big but was perfect for us. It had freshly ground Parmesan cheese and they gave us homemade chilli oil which was spicy and a perfect accompaniment. The flavour was anything but subtle with a strong lamb flavour – but we loved it!
We had very nice chats with the Manager and the wait staff who were very friendly and knowledgeable. They gave us a complimentary small carafe of home made lemon cello which was potent and tasty.
The only down side was that there was an elderly customer who kept loudly clearing mucus from his throat and spitting it into a tissue. It was not just once but many times and so loud that the whole restaurant could hear him. He stopped after being told it was rude. But this incident was not the restaurant’s fault – it was a single customer acting poorly in a high end restaurant.
However, this was an excellent experience for my wife and I. We can’t wait for our next trip back!
