Made reservations and noted it was a birthday dinner. When we arrived we were sat across from the bar directly in front of the outside door along a window. We reminded host we had a reservation and asked to be seated in the restaurant. They told us it was an hour wait. Our table and the table next to us had to leave our winter coats, hats and kids at table next to us had their hoods on. Also so noisy we could barely hear each other. The food was good but the atmosphere and placement with a reservation was not what I expected at Giacomo’s. Also, wait staff was less than sympathetic when we said we had reservation with Birthday noted. I started going to Giacomo’s 30 years ago on Hanover Street and was exited they had opened one in Melrose. I have been there at least 15 times. I will not be going back and can no longer recommend this restaurant. Also noting I have pictures of our table and table next to us bundled up trying to stay warm but will not post due to peoples faces in photo’s.

Visiting from out of town and this restaurant was recommended as must, by a local. Did not disappoint. May have been the best bruschetta and Marsala I have ever eaten. Can’t wait to have a word with my Sicilian friends when I get back home. They need to step up their game.

Made an 8:15 reservation on Open Table- 8:45 we still didn’t have drinks or appetizers. The food was decent- when it eventually came. Ordered a dessert to go which our server forgot about because I guess side work is more important? Was given the wrong dessert in a take out bag. I don’t recommend going on a weekend night or even making a reservation because it’s just not worth it.

The Lobster pasta is great and full of sea flavor. Spaghetti with good texture, you can taste with the Lobster and Mussels. Lobster is fresh and tender, really delicious with pasta.
The main door is located at the back side, not by the main road. You will see people hanging on the bar to enjoy the food. The atmosphere is relax and fun.

I’ve only tried one dish so far, so I’ll leave it to evaluate more precisely on another occasion. The atmosphere is very beautiful, cozy, the prices are fair and the dishes are quite generous in size. I always walk past the door and see that the restaurant is always full, so I recommend making a reservation. The desserts are really tempting, although I didn’t try them, I was very curious to try them on my next visit. The service is great, fast and efficient, everyone is very friendly. They have 1 gluten free pasta option, which is relevant to me.

Everything was so fresh and absolutely delicious. Exactly what I was craving! The Giacomo sauce is flavorful and velvety. Highly recommend the frutti de mare with the giacomo sauce. Really enjoyed the key lime daiquiri!

Good food, good service and the atmosphere was lively. The only criticism is that the portions on some of the items were small. Still, you’re getting north end quality for half the price.
The wine list is on the smaller side but a steal! Eg A bottle of Belle Glos Pinot is $48(TW sells for $50), a Jordan Cab from Sonoma for $75(TW $60).
Definitely a recommendation, 4.5 stars.

Random stop to a place we had never been on our way home from Boston. Great decision. The atmosphere there was lovely and the service fantastic. Our server Nick was excellent! Definitely a place we will stop at again!

Giacomo’s ristorante has the best Italian cuisine in Boston! The table at north-end is always difficult to get so I decided to go to Melrose this time. No matter what you order, all dishes are flawless as always.

What a great spot. Went on a Saturday at 6, atmosphere was lively and welcoming. Very good use of a relatively small space. Calamari was fantastic and our server was particularly kind and attentive. Prices are very, very reasonable for the quality and portion. Would definitely return if in the area.
