Ghareeb Nawaz really good and I know I’m late bacause there is always a bunch of people already dinning in.
On this trip I had a chance to try The Butter Chicken Barketta
It came in a rap but I chose to eat it over rice, the chicken was really buttery and the bread that it was rapped in was butter too. I like tasting the coconut in the chicken its like a hidden layer of flavor. Stop by after your visit from Sandbox Vr this restrurant is right across the street from.
They also have a breakfast special and a lunch special that offers a vegetarian option
I love all there locations.
As an Indian craving biryani on a rainy day, I was excited to try Ghareeb Nawaz, especially given the rave reviews about Indian-Pakistani food in the area. Unfortunately, this visit was a letdown, marking one of the few times I’ve had a bad experience with South Asian cuisine.
Food:
I ordered the vegetable biryani and a spicy potato curry as a side. The biryani was far from what I expected. It lacked vegetables, and the rice was overly sticky, drenched in gravy to the point where it didn’t resemble biryani at all. The plating was unappetizing, and the flavor was underwhelming. The potato curry was equally disappointing—the potatoes were discolored, and the overall quality and taste were subpar. You cannot customize the flavors (make it spicy/less spicy) of the food as they were all pre-cooked. They will heat and place you as you order
Price:
While the prices are significantly lower (about three times cheaper) compared to other Indian/Pakistani restaurants, the quality was severely compromised. While affordability is a standout feature, it shouldn’t come at the expense of taste and authenticity.
Ambience:
The ambience is no-frills and basic, which is fine for a quick bite, but the staff seemed indifferent and unwelcoming. They didn’t go out of their way to make the experience pleasant, which added to the overall disappointment.
Overall:
I won’t be returning to Ghareeb Nawaz or recommending it to others. While the low prices might appeal to some, the lack of flavor, poor quality, and uninviting atmosphere make it a hard pass for anyone seeking authentic and enjoyable South Asian cuisine.
Chili chicken 4/5
Biryani 3/5
Chili chicken paratha 5/5
Fries+butter chicken 3/5 ..the fries are awful, the chicken is great. They should really try getting different fries cuz whatever they’re serving now has got to be the worst French fries I’ve ever tasted.
Mango lassi 3/5
Anda paratha 5/5
my sentiment still stands that the good is a great value and in my opinion is absolutely delicious. that statement hasn’t changed and i still really love the food served here.
my issue stands with the service that i have come to experience here after the original opening of this location 3 years ago. there has been a drastic decline in the level of service received from the staff at this location in recent times.
there is a noticeable drop in the quality of service received. the staff have grown dismissive, more notably with the late night/closing staff. refusing to serve customers 40 minutes before closing is unacceptable in my opinion. i understand that the staff wants to go home but a part of working closing shift is staying past close so that you can prep the store for the following day. I understand closing is not fun but it is part of the job you signed up for.
From what i have read this seems to be more of a management decision, but i could be mistaken. if this is a management issue then just switch your hours to close an hour earlier — because nobody is being served in that last hour anyways — or serve customers up to your posted closing time.
Again i love the food here but the refusal of service while the restaurant is still open is unacceptable and shows a lack of integrity within the staff/owner. if these issues can be remediated my review will be updated, but as it stands i must lower my original 5 star review
