Gertrude’s is an ideal restaurant for a special occasion dating experience! The ambiance in yhe restaurant is top notch. Very sophisticated. I My date and I tried the Oyster Po’ Boy w/ fries, Rock Fish w/ asparagus, fudge sundae, GOAT cheesecake, and some sangria. It was all very tasty and fresh. The pricing was relatively steep, but, was considerably lower than other area restaurants. The service here was very good, as well. Would certainly recommend Gertrude’s for a special occasion meal.

I dined at Gertrude’s during restaurant week and I could not have chosen a better time to go. I made a reservation, showed up 15 minutes early without my entire party and was seated immediately. While waiting on 2 guests the waiter served cocktails to those who were seated and the drinks were very good. I selected the wine pairing option on the prix fixe menu. Each dish and wine were excellent. Everyone at our table loved their meals and my dessert was so delicious I had to take extra time to savor it. I will be returning to try brunch soon.

Delicious. After a nice museum tour, this is a perfect place to have lunch. Today’s gorgeous weather was perfect to sit outside. A glass of rosé with spinach salad is a good start. The Salmon and crab cake are super yummy. Peach upside down cake is a perfect way to close. We will return to Gertrude’s. Kiss, Olan

Had a brunch reservation at noon and everything in theory should have been great. Unfortunately, we had poor service that limited our ability to fully enjoy the experience. We had to order drinks multiple times and never received some of them. The wrong order was brought out and we then had to wait 20 mins for the correct plate, and the grits meal was unappetizing. Our server came to our table maybe 4 times over the whole meal. I spoke to the management who apologized and took 50 percent off the meal but the whole experience ruined what should have been a fun girls brunch at a beautiful location. We will never return and caution others to experience the museum and grounds but dine elsewhere.

We booked my sister’s bridal shower at Gertrude’s, and the entire experience was fantastic. John talked me through all of the decisions and details, made helpful suggestions, and expanded what was standard to make this a custom event, all while keeping me abreast of impact on budget. Day of, Olga and her team were absolutely phenomenal, communicating with me about timing and moving easily among the guests to make sure that everyone was taken care of. The food was also stellar, from custom appetizers to their famous crab cakes to adorable dessert shooters. We could not have imagined a better experience from start to finish!

I cannot give Gertrude’s 5 stars because of the rude staff member at the hostess stand. We asked to put our names on the list for seating, but were told that we needed reservations and that there were none available. We said we were disappointed, but understood, and we asked for recommendations in the neighborhood for other restaurants. We told the woman that we had driven a long way and were very hungry after our museum visit. She mumbled some street names, and when we said we didn’t know the area…could she point us in a direction, she brushed us off. A nice gentleman took over and gave us suggestions. (As nice as he was, like the rude woman, he never told us there was first come/first served seating at the bar.) I went on Open Table and saw a 2 PM reservation available. We showed the hostess and then she put our name on the list. At that time we saw people dining at the bar. The bartender told us that bar seating was first come, first served, and we immediately sat at the bar and had a fantastic meal. After we ate, my husband went to tell the hostess that and she could remove our name from the list, she nastily responded that there were people ahead of him and he needed to wait in line to talk to her. He said that he was only trying to be polite and helpful and he walked away. The woman who served us at the bar was delightful and the food was terrific, but that women at the hostess stand was miserable. (I wish I knew her name.) So just beware! And if the manager reads this, please talk to your host/hostess staff about the proper way to greet and be helpful to guests.

Underwhelming. Salad soggy with dressing. $36 crab cake fine, not a lot of flavor. Wait staff seemed very harried (brunch on Sunday).

My daughter took me here for Mother’s Day. I decided to make a reservation before w left for my boyfriend’s birthday. There was a big highway shut down somewhere, we weren’t going to make it, on time. A young lady from the restaurant called me to ask if we were going to make it, she knew it was important (I had spoken to her earlier). She made other suggestions in the area so his birthday wasn’t ruined, but I was so impressed she called me. What a classy thing to do. I will make sure we do a night out here, soon. Totally impressed.

Gertrude’s is a lovely place and the food is spectacular! We went for an outdoor lunch to celebrate a 52nd wedding anniversary. The waitstaff was friendly and very professional, the food was delicious, and the ambiance in the outdoor space was perfect. Very relaxing. Highly recommend!
