Visited art museum for special event. A patron suggested Gertrudes for a bite. Thinking it was cafeteria food, and fortunately to my surprise, a fantastic culinary experience. First, shout out to servers Alex and Tim. Alex knows his craft by elevating the dining experience, knows the menu and great suggestions. Tim coordinates the fresh flowers adorning every table. Bottom line, food and service exceptional

A great restaurant within the Baltimore Art Museum. Worth dining here without a doubt. Good food, service,. atmosphere at reasonable prices.

Unless you live in the surrounding area, parking could be a challenge though. Not difficult but probably means finding parking on the nearby streets ( which are within comfortable walking distance unless you have mobility issues).

Gertrude’s, the cafe at the Baltimore Museum of Art, is a very nice venue. I had fried oysters with eggs Benedict and home fries. Excellent. The service was very good.

The Baltimore Museum of Art is an excellent place to visit.

Location, atmosphere, seating, service, and the menu!
Gertrude’s been hiding out at the Baltimore Museum of Art for some time now. I discovered Gertrude’s while attending a candlelight concert honoring Lauren Hill at the BMA.
The food and drinks were flavorful and delicious. They offer a variety of fine surf and turf items and some house specials on the drink menu. Their not too pricey pricey.
The candlelit atmosphere gave it a cozy and classy feel. You can dine inside or outside under the stars while gazing at the beautiful garden fountain.
Gertrude’s dining experience made our date night truly one remember for years to come.

I recently photographed a wedding at Gertrude’s and it was so much fun! It is apart of the BMA but it is separate from the museum itself. The staff is amazing! Very helpful and very kind. It started to rain during the ceremony and they jumped in to help relocate anything important from getting wet. One thing to keep in mind about this venue is that they are very specific with the time they allow the ceremony to start. And it doesn’t change with daylight savings. The photos that I shared are from the ceremony after the sun had set all the way. So as along as you hire a photographer that knows how to navigate the lighting situation you will be golden. OR just decide to book the venue based on the sun set.

The customer service is always outstanding, however what falls short during my recent visit for lunch was the fish & chips platter. The fries were soggy and oily and therefore wasn’t palatable. Our server did rectify the problem by bringing me another side of fries. Although they were over fried, it was better than the first serving and I consumed them for it certainly wasn’t the fault of our server. I do recommend that considering the price point for the fish and chips at $23.00, perhaps consider adding a small side of coleslaw. Otherwise the fish itself was fresh and a fair serving and the soup de jour was outstanding. I would like to share “Thank You” to Tom for such friendly service.

Beautiful restaurant located in an art museum. Did not have a reservation on a Sunday around noon, but we were able to eat at the bar. They offered a wonderful brunch selection, but I would recommend the special crab cake. It was delicious! Highly recommend. And the art museum was wonderful.

I went today for my birthday dinner and it was really nice. I love how they offer reservations online. The ambiance was something special. Seating can be a little crowded at times especially during the colder months. Food was delicious, I ate it so fast I didn’t get a chance to take a picture lol. Drinks were good and strong; they are not stingy with alcohol. Items can be a little pricey but it’s average compared to other restaurants . The staff is very friendly, patient, quick and accurate taking orders and I love how they don’t rush you out the door. I would absolutely come back again. This place is a real gem. ❤️

The food was the best part. The staff seemed more focused on each other than the guests. It didn’t feel like high quality service and I thought a place like this would offer that. I sat at the bar near the kitchen; it was very loud and I was privy to some conversation I’d rather not hear. The bartenders were friendly and seemed to be the more experienced staff. The food made up for all of it. Everything tasted delicious.

We chose this restaurant to celebrate after our wedding and were extremely disappointed. When making the reservation, I specified how important this dinner was to us and our family. We sat unattended for over 15 minutes, and I (the bride) eventually had to walk to the host stand myself so she could find our waiter, which took several more minutes. I want to note the restaurant was nearly empty; regardless, there is no excuse for this carelessness and apathy.

The service never improved. The waiter was inattentive, dismissive, lacked knowledge of the menu, and the food was underwhelming; for the price point and reputation, this was completely unacceptable.

I want to note that the manager took our complaint seriously, which was appreciated. That being said, the overall experience fell far short of basic hospitality, and this is coming from someone who worked front of house for almost a decade. If this is how a wedding celebration is handled, I cannot imagine the experience for regular guests.

We will not be returning.
