One of my favorite places to eat in the area – we visit here frequently and have never had a bad experience here even though they’re usually pretty packed when we go. That alone speaks volumes because service and quality tend to slide when restaurants get busy. The food is amazing, a little on the pricier side, but absolutely worth it. And they have a pretty diverse menu so it’s easy to find something to satisfy whatever mood you happen to be in. Have never had a bad meal here. The atmosphere is cozy and warm, the waitstaff is friendly and attentive and they have a fantastic fireplace on the patio for colder weather days. I would eat here every day if I could afford it. Perfection.

This was our first time visiting as we’ve just moved to the area. We sat on the more formal side, which was quieter and more romantic for date night. The server was wonderful to answer our questions and explain some of the dishes. The Farmer’s Plate is a great choice if you want to try several difficult Austrian dishes. They have a good variety including steaks, seafood and several appetizers and desserts.

This is a great place to have German food in Spartanburg. The food is always delicious, and we try to eat here whenever we visit Spartanburg. Highly recommend the wiener schnitzel! Love the jelly on top. And the spaetzle is excellent, too.

The two young hosts (8/26/23 @6:00) did not greet me at all. They just look the other way until I said something to them and of course it’s a predominantly white audience which shouldn’t matter, but as soon as their kind walks in their greeted immediately and with a smile. My money spends just like yours please be careful because what you do to others come back on you. It’s 2023 making a difference is so not cool.

UPDATE: We sat outside and our tables were spaced apart enough to feel good about eating out. We had the Caesar Salad with shrimp and the Mahi Kabob, with a side of fried potatoes. Food was served hot, wait staff was more than friendly. The salad missed the mark a bit. There was a strange flavor to be a Caesar Salad. We ate it but it will not be our choice next time we go back. The Mahi was very good. A cold Dunkel to wash it down was nice as well. Overall our visit was good. It was great to be out!

Simply Amazing!! I lived in Germany for 3 years and traveled to Austria many time. Right from the first bite I felt like I was back! By far the most authentic German/Austrian food I have tasted in the states! The Jagers schnitzel and Spitzel was absolutely DELICIOUS! the service was fantastic as well. We will be back!! I just moved to the area and we plan on being regulars.

A friend recommended that I try out Gerhard’s Cafe and I was not disappointed. From the warm greeting at the door, the friendly service from the bartender ( I forgot her name) she recommended a delicious German beer to that I absolutely loved. My meal was fantastic by far the best I have had in years. If you have not eaten here yet so do so
