No flavoring or seasoning. Bland. Overpriced.

Many were saying Jersey Mike’s and Dominque’s in front of NN Lowes is way better.

The hoagies have cold veggies while the steaks don’t. The menu is hard to understand because it’s too basic.

The arcade portion is a joke and a bunch of gimmick machines. Why not make it something like a pinball lounge instead? It’d attract more people, people can drink while playing, and be something different in the area.

Staff was nice except for the one guy being no manners telling us to move the line. Could have been a bit nicer about it. They messed up my order multiple times but finally got it right.

Condiments do not come on the items. You put those on yourself. Many of the items are made to order. So good for some food allergies. Decent quality meat as well, just no flavor.

The cheese wiz is a watery cheese sauce that starts to plastic harden after it cools down. It’s very runny.

The pizza fries are strange. Pizza fries are either just sauce or you add mozzarella or provolone to them with tomato sauce. They use that cheese liquid and then cover with a spoon of sauce and Italian oregano seasoning.

Fries are good though. It’s the crispy coated thin fries.

Definitely not worth it. The cheese steak is extremely bland and over priced. We added salt, pepper, and hot sauce… still didn’t help. The fries and the customer service are good but I will not be coming back.

Gino’s Steak has built a strong reputation for serving one of the best Philly cheesesteaks, and while this Hampton location doesn’t quite capture the exact flavor of the original Philadelphia spot, it’s still a good experience overall. The cheesesteak is satisfying and well made, but the taste feels slightly different, almost like they’re still adjusting or refining the recipe for this location. It’s good, just not quite the same iconic flavor people expect when they hear the Gino’s name.

The biggest drawback during our visit was the wait. With only one register operating and very limited room inside, the line moved slowly and became a bit uncomfortable. We waited around 30 minutes, and there wasn’t much space for people to stand without feeling crowded. For such a well-known restaurant, the interior feels surprisingly small and not very accommodating during busy times.

There is an arcade area attached, which is okay, but it’s not something I’d come here specifically for. It feels more like an added bonus than a main attraction. Overall, this location has a lot of potential. With some improvements to the ordering process, more space, and a bit more consistency in the food, it could easily match the reputation that Gino’s Steak is known for.

First time at the one in VA. Good to have this fare in our area. Went there for lunch on a Tuesday and there wasn’t a wait. Bar area is huge and could be a good place to catch a game and have some drinks. We’ll probably be back.

I was so excited to hear that Geno’s cheesesteak was coming to Hampton. I visit Philly often and it taste just like the original. I ordered the Cheesesteak with onions, whiz and american cheese. For those commenting about the bland meat, that’s because you are supposed to taste the steak and then place your toppings of your choice to make it a custom flavor. The bread is soft just like Philly. It was hot, delicious and the steak was tender. The fries are sliced thin and was fresh and crispy. I ended up ordering a few to go for dinner since it was extremely satisfying. Service was fast and friendly. I will definitely return in a heartbeat. The arcade was a plus and my children are already begging for me to come back

I like to think I rate places fairly, and this one really disappointed me. I even defended them on social media while others were talking trash before they opened.
Not because I thought they were good, but because I believe in giving places a chance.
I was OK waiting in line for opening day. I was very disappointed by the flavorless cheesesteak. I wouldn’t say it’s the worst I ever had, but personally I would not recommend it for one of my friends. I doubt I’ll return even with the buy one get one free coupon they were passing out.

Grand Opening day: 30 minute wait to get inside. 75 minute wait for food. Geno came out and explained delay, gave us 3 BOGO coupons. The steak sandwich was warm, but not hot, and much bigger than I expected for $16. They brought a pile out and mine probably waited. But employees were professional, friendly, the place was very clean, brightly lit and condiments were easily available. The restaurant had lots of seating, full bar, arcade games, good music and not too loud. We could hear each other talk. Except for the wait, I had a good time.

This is my 2nd time coming to this location, 1st time I sat inside, this time I took it to go.
Overall a nice experience, food is great!! The subs are 9′ and we’ll portion inside they have everything you need as far as condiments to top your sub, they will put the other stuff on like onions, mushrooms etc.. The staff is really friendly and polite. As far as the inside, there are tables to sit at and a large bar. The arcade was pretty neat, a little pricey but the kids had a good time..

Since the initial grand opening crowd has died down placing orders and food preparation time is much quicker. We’ve gone to the Philly Geno’s location for years and glad there is one here in VA now. The sandwiches have great quality meat imo and our family appreciates them not being overly salty. Some would say they are not seasoned enough but there’s salt, pepper and spicy peppers available. I hope they stick around despite all the negativity in many of the other reviews.

The thinly sliced ribeye steak is great, it’s not seasoned and I just found out that that’s how they do it. They have condiments to season it as you wish. I’m not crazy about that but they’ve been doing this since 1966 so they must be doing something right.
The onions were ok but the mushrooms were terrible, they tasted like canned mushrooms not sautéed.
Next time I’ll try it with provolone and maybe lettuce tomatoes and mayo to give it some flavor.
The bread got soggy, could’ve been because of the mushrooms, very quickly, so you wanna eat it there. I’d tell them not to even wrap it.
Will give it another try but they do get five star for now for the quality of meat, most places these days use steak and “filler” so it’s nice to see actual ribeye meat.
Overall, a good spot for steak subs, give them a try but remember to season it yourself otherwise it will be bland as many have pointed out.
